Question

Soooo, a brewery, huh?

Answer

Yep! Austin Beerworks features very prominently in the Story of Brent and Ashley. Their awesome tap room(s) and excellent beers have led to most of the substantive life conversations that shaped our relationship and brought us to marriage. It only seemed fitting!

Question

So the ceremony is there too?

Answer

Indeed! "Right in front of the taps!" as Ashley likes to say (although they'll be behind a curtain for the actual ceremony).

Question

To confirm, this is an indoor wedding?

Answer

Yep, at least the ceremony is. We're hoping the notoriously fickle Texas weather will hold and we'll be able to enjoy the outside as well, but we should at least have a tent in the event of rain. Please check the forecast before you pack for the weekend; when it comes to Texas and weather things can change on the drop of a dime and it's not unheard of to see temps as low as 30 or as high as 80 in late March. You get used to it. Eventually you embrace it. It's just another part of our charm!

Question

What's the parking situation?

Answer

ABW is in an industrial area and doesn't have a huge parking lot, but since it's a Saturday you're free to park all along the street and in adjacent parking areas. We will mention though that we care about all of you and really prefer that you not drink and drive. Uber and Lyft will very easily get you there and get you back to wherever you're staying! They've both got great Austin coverage and you shouldn't have to wait more than a few minutes on either end. Heck, Brent is even going to get a ride share from the hotel to the brewery, and we're probably using them whenever we move on to wherever the after-party is going to be!

Question

And why can't I wear denim? It's practically the national lower-body dress-wear of Texas!

Answer

Because lil' Miss Bougie over here says no and that's just the way it is because she's the bride and you're not! There also won't be any stemless wine glasses.

Question

What about seating?

Answer

Ehhhhhhhhh sooooooo here's the deal: this place is setup as a communal tap room. The inside has these lovely but also large and heavy tables that aren't able to be moved in and out easily to make way for chairs. So we're just embracing it and will have guests sit at the tables. That being said, there is most assuredly not going to be enough seating for all of you, though there should be plenty of standing room. We're shooting for a 10-15 minute ceremony so if you end up giving up your seat for those guests that may have trouble standing or have little kiddos it shouldn't be too inconvenient. When it comes time to grub there's plenty of outdoor seating as well!

Question

What sort of beers does this place serve?

Answer

Excellent ones! They have a Core Four consisting of Peacemaker (an easy-drinking ale, probably the most accessible of the bunch if you're not into hops), Pearl-Snap (a pilsner), Fire Eagle (IPA) and Flavor Country (a hoppy pale ale; not a full-on IPA but still has a lot of hop character). Beyond that they have seasonals and then usually a few experimental or small-batch stuff that's only available in the tap room. They've got a great website if you want to read more: austinbeerworks.com If your preference leans towards Bud/Light, Miller/Lite, Coors/Light or Dos Equis, then start with Peacemaker. Maybe also try Pearl Snap. If you don't know if you like hoppy stuff then at least ask for a sample of Fire Eagle and/or Flavor Country. If you don't know what "hoppy stuff" means then go find a pine forest and imagine drinking something that tastes how that smells. Then maybe just ask for a Peacemaker? Or discover wine? hehehe

Question

Will they have (insert name of beer I usually drink here)?

Answer

No, they aren't a bar, they only serve what they make. If you like beer at all they should have something you can enjoy! They'll gladly pour you a sample of anything, and maybe take the chance to try a new style of beer. Maybe there's a Double IPA fan just hiding inside of you!

Question

Meh, I'm not into beer, will there be anything for me to drink?

Answer

We will also have wine on hand (Cab, Pinot Noir, an as-yet-undecided white and some bubbles) but no liquor (you can thank the TABC for that). And there will be plenty of water and Dr. Pepper available, along with some other soft drinks.

Question

Are you guys serving food or are we just drinking our calories?

Answer

Of course we're serving food! Fun food. Excellent food! There'll be some cheese-related snacks available right after the ceremony and then dinner will come from two food trucks and ABW's on-site trailer, CAN-tina. In terms of type of food, CAN-tina will be serving brats and specialty tacos, one of the trucks is burgers, including chicken and veggie, and fries (P. Terry's, a local Austin chain) and the other truck is a surprise, but it's one of our favorite types of food and one of our favorite purveyors of said food!

Question

What's "cedar fever?"

Answer

OMG you have so many questions! Just come here and enjoy the beer and food and company! Don't worry about little things like itchy, watery eyes! Or a runny nose! Or a stopped up nose! Or a cough! Or generally feeling miserable because the air itself is filled with irritants from all the lovely local fauna that your body will just inherently reject, somewhat violently or at least substantially annoyingly! For realz, cedar fever season should be over by the time our wedding rolls around but there's always something in the air that causes varying subsets of the population issues. If you're the kinda person that has seasonal allergies we suggest that you load up on the meds of your choice before arriving.

Question

I've seen mention of after-partying. What does that mean?

Answer

It means that there's probably going to be a party... after... the main party! The fine folks at ABW need to kick us out at 10 so that they can clean up and move off to their own fun, but we don't stop at 10. We can rage until 10:30, or even 11 when the mood is right! While there's nothing formal planned we're thinking of going to one of our favorite bars afterwards, or possibly a few of them. But even if you have tired of our company and want to still go out there are lots of great options. We recommend the East side (Whisler's is a great start) or the Domain. Burnet Road (mainly south of US 183) has some great spots. The Rainey Street district is a lot of fun but can be a challenge to get in and out of. Downtown west of Congress has some great spots as well. If you want to check out Dirty Sixth (which is the strip between Congress and I-35) you do you boo, just be careful.
