When Brendan asked a question on Yahoo Answers, back in 2009, he expected random answers to his questions. What he didn't expect was a snarky reply, which is exactly what he got from Caralina. He was so intrigued that he e-mailed her. They both discovered they were the same age and quickly exchanged phone numbers. Despite the fact that Caralina was in California and Brendan was in Virginia, a whole continent apart, over the next six years, as they grew up, Caralina and Brendan became close friends. They were each others confidants and as technology progressed they began calling and video-chatting. In November of 2014 Caralina invited Brendan to be her date for New Years Eve at Disneyland. She expected Brendan to say, "I wish", but he agreed. On December 31st, 2014, Brendan boarded a plane from Richmond, Virginia, final destination: San Diego, California. On that same morning, Caralina drove her black 2006 VW Jetta to San Diego International Airport. As she approached Terminal 2 the butterflies in her stomach went crazy. She drove nearly to the end of the Terminal and saw Brendan with her bare eyes for the first time. After they became acquainted, Caralina showed her hometown to Brendan. During that week they spent together they fell in love even deeper than the infatuation they felt before. Nine months later, after spending this time long distance and traveling between their two states, Caralina and Brendan began their life in the same place in Oregon. Shortly after they relocated to Oceanside, CA. Over the next couple years they moved in together and raised a Beagle puppy.

On the fifth anniversary of their first date, which happened to be New Years Eve, Caralina had to work. She got off around 9:45 that evening and drove home to the apartment Brendan and her shared with their dog Watson. Caralina walked up the stairs leading to her front door and unlocked it. When she opened the door she found her apartment riddled with rose petals. When she saw the scene, she knew. But, she was in her all black, dirty work clothes and she didn't want the memory of her love proposing to her to entail those clothes! So, she yelled out to the hiding Brendan, "Bring me my green dress from Christmas!". Brendan laughed and riffled through the closet and threw her the wrong green dress but second time is the charm. Caralina put on her green Christmas dress and followed the petals, giggling, to her bedroom. Brendan was there with heart balloons. Brendan poured his heart out to Caralina and asked if she would be his wife. And... of course... SHE SAID YES!!!
