In January 2017, while Calvin was dropping his friend off at his wife’s job, Brenda walked by. She spoke to Calvin’s friend then went to lunch. When Brenda returned, her coworker said Calvin questioned his friend about her and wanted to meet. Brenda said, “if he saw me walking across the parking lot then consider it an introduction.” Brenda’s friend communicated her message, but Calvin still wanted to meet. Brenda’s friend said he seems to be a good guy. Brenda said, “if he’s such a good guy, why is he still single?” Brenda’s friend said, “I don’t know but I told him you are a good lady and he could be asking the same thing about you!” After a few days, Brenda’s friend asked how she plan to get married again if she never talks to a man or goes out on a date. Interesting question Brenda thought so she talked to God about it. God revealed that Calvin is her Boaz. Brenda told her friend to give Calvin her number and he called later that same day. Brenda and Calvin continued to talk, text and email each other from time to time for the next 6 months. When Calvin returned home for vacation in July 2017, he asked Brenda out on a date. She agreed to meet him for lunch. Brenda was nervous about meeting Calvin for the first time. Brenda was also nervous because she hadn’t been on a date in years! They had a nice lunch and made each other feel comfortable. Calvin and Brenda agreed to continue to talk and have lunch dates. In the summer of 2018, they told their family and friends about each other and were met with excitement and love. On August 5, 2019, Calvin asked Brenda’s daughter for her hand in marriage. Then he presented Brenda with a beautiful ring and asked her to be his wife. She said “yes”! They’ve been a happy couple ever since and are looking forward to spending the rest of their lives together! Brenda and Calvin will exchange vows and become one on September 19, 2020.
