Flight
Airfare to be at the guest's expense. Closest airport at ~63 km (~40 mi) from Borgo Latiscastelli. Offers regional and some international flights. Advantages: -Shorter drive (~1 hour) -Train and bus connections available from Florence city center
Rental Car
The rental car facility is located at Via Palagio degli Spini snc, connected to the terminal by a free shuttle bus running every ~20 minutes. After arrival and baggage pickup, guests should follow signs for “Car Rental / Autonoleggio” and then board the shuttle to the rental area. Because FLR is relatively small, the process is fairly direct—but booking in advance is recommended as inventory can be limited Keep in mind! There are car rental facilities ~15 mins from the airport where you may find cheaper fares. You will need: (1) A valid driver’s license plus your passport. We also STRONGLY recommend having an International Driving Permit (IDP)—it’s not always legally required for U.S. citizens, but it can avoid additional fees and wait time. (2) A major credit card in the renter’s name is needed for the deposit. Many companies allow drivers aged 21+, but some higher-class vehicles may require older minimum age or impose “young driver” fees.
