How did we meet? Church! Fred and I knew each other as we had both been in the same life group and volunteered in children's ministry. We even helped each other move (He remembers "fondly" all the boxes of books I packed). How did we start dating? We talked at church. It started with a few minutes, then hours. We began meeting during the week and couldn't stop talking, always trying to extend our time together. One week, we planned on going to a movie, and Fred suggested we get dinner. At Matsu Ya's, as we waited for our sushi, he gave me a "check yes or no" note with a haiku saying he liked me and asking if I liked him. I checked yes. How did he propose? We both love taking walks, especially by Schmeeckle Reserve. A favorite spot of ours is a bench by the lake. Fred got a friend of mine to take a walk with me at Schmeeckle while he set up by "our bench." He scattered rose petals, hung string lights, lit candles, and put notes on the pathway. He had the ring nestled atop a rose in a bell jar, next to Baby Yoda and the Nanotech Gauntlet from Endgame (we're both nerds). He put on the gauntlet, placed the ring on the gauntlet, and proposed. I found another "check yes or no" note, with a haiku, this time asking me to marry him. I checked yes.
