How We Met (Her Side)

Brooke's Version

I was at a Sioux Falls bar with some friends and I see this very attractive man sitting at a table all alone. I decided to be bold and walk up to him to start a conversation. Me, being a few beers deep, did not have a plan as to what I was going to say but was very committed in starting a conversation with this tall drink of water. Of course my mouth filter was NOT working at the time so I said the first thing that came to mind: "You look like a bump on the log, will you come dance with me?" To no surprise, Brayden denied dancing with me. He did give me a proposition which was as follows: If I could get all 10 of his friends he was "with" (remember, he was sitting at a table ALONE) then he would dance with me. Needless to say, I got all ten of his friends on the dancefloor then shortly after, Brayden came to the dancefloor (man of his word from day one). From that night on, we have been inseparable. I am so thankful you came into my life when you did Bray, you have truly been my biggest blessing!

How We Met (His Side)

It was April 2nd, 2023. I was out with a bunch of friends during a drill weekend. Everyone had left the table—to grab drinks, hit the dance floor, or talk to other people. I stayed back at the booth to save our spot and keep an eye on everyone’s stuff. I was minding my own business, like I usually do at bars—just sitting back and people-watching. Then, all of a sudden, this random person walking by came right up to me, super direct, and said: "You look like a bump on a log!" Not knowing who this very attractive (but completely random) person was, I responded, “What do you mean?” She asked why I was sitting alone, and I explained that I was holding the table for a group of friends. Then, she asked me to come dance with her. I said, “No, I’m okay—but thank you.” But she didn’t give up. She asked again. And again. And again. After saying "no" multiple times. Finally, I said, “If you can get all of my friends out on the dance floor, I’ll come dance with you.” (Thinking there was no way she’d pull it off.) Sure enough, she somehow got everyone onto the dance floor. Wanting to keep my word, I had no choice but to follow through and dance with her. And to this day, it was the best thing that ever happened to me.
