A Castle of Our Own

After everyone has arrived and settled in, we will take a few hours to rest and relax before taking the train into Edinburgh to explore Old Town and have dinner. This will be a nice and easy day. We suggest downloading the ScottRail app as it is a quick and easy way to purchase train tickets and have your code scanned while onboard. The train from Dunfermline to Edinburgh Waverly Station is roughly 30 minutes. If anyone would like to leave the city and return to the Balmule House, ubers are readily available in Edinburgh.

Castles, Castles, Castles!

Rise and shine! We have a packed day for everyone so wear your sneakers and comfortable clothes and prepare to be wildly amazed by the architecture and history you are about to experience. After picking up the rental cars, we will venture to Stirling Castle, one of Scotland's most iconic structures for a tour. Afterwards, we will head to the William Wallace Monument where anyone who wants to can climb to the top and see stunning panoramic views of the Scottish countryside. Then onto Doune Castle, an iconic castle featured in movies like Monty Python and the Holy Grail as well as acting as Castle Leoch in Outlander. Speaking of Outlander, we will also make our way to Midhope Castle, otherwise known as Lallybroch, the ancestral home of James Alexander Malcom Mackenzie Fraser, and Blackness Castle, a coastal gem that served as Fort William on the beloved Starz show. We will also stop in and see Linlithgow Palace, the birth place of Mary, Queen of Scots!

This is the moment we've been waiting for. The place where we got engaged, Dunnottar Castle will take your breath away. Lauren and Josh will exchange their vows above the rocky shores with those who are closest to them at their sides. We will be making a few stops along the way for some beautiful photo opportunities so don't fear, there will plenty of opportunities for more sightseeing. We will be entering the castle for photos as well so plan to take on the steep walk down to sea-level then back up to the castle's main entrance. After Dunnottar, we will return to the Balmule House for a private chef-cooked dinner.

A Day In St. Andrews

In St. Andrews for the day, we will spend it wandering St. Andrews Cathedral and St. Andrews Castle, taking in the history of one of Scotland's most bustling cities. There will be plenty to do and see so feel free to come and go at your leisure! On the way back, we will try to find a coo or two!

For Old Time's Sake

For our last day in Scotland, we will be taking the train into Edinburgh for one last day in our favorite city. Do and see anything you want this day; buy souvenirs, eat pastries, apply for a UK visa, we won't judge!

Thank you so much for joining us on our destination wedding. We would not be the people we are without all of you and we are just so appreciative that you all made these memories with us. We will see you when we get back from our honeymoon!
