The night we met in person was at a restaurant in town. I was running late and as I approached the restaurant, Scott peeked around the corner, watching for me. He got a glimpse and recognized me and for one moment I got an unguarded first date look of delight. I knew it was going to be a good date. We sat at the bar waiting for our reservation and we lost track of time before realizing after three hours that the restaurant missed us on the list! After the date, he called me right away. He told me, "I don't like to play games." That was music to my ears, because I hated games and appreciated a man willing to come boldly toward me. Scott's story is told with a lot more humor. He was updating his online dating profile and having a terrible time getting a picture he liked. After a glass of wine and a lot of frustration with his camera, he found a picture of himself in a blue shirt and with his hair cropped in a way that looked like Spock from Star Trek. So of course he put up the picture and titled it "Spock." Fortunately he had a female friend who told him to take it down and he listened. A few days later, with a new picture, he reached out to me after seeing I looked at his profile. It was only much later that he told me the Spock picture story and we both got a good laugh because I remembered seeing the picture, rolling my eyes and saying "what a nerd!" So we can thank his friend for narrowly avoiding a missed connection.
