Cozumel International Airport (CZM)
Cozumel is an island off the coast of Playa Del Carmen. The easiest way to fly in is to arrive in the Cozumel International Airport. Though International, it is a very small airport. Prepare to wait 30-45 minutes for bags as they usually take their time. ** FYI: Canine units check each person coming through customs, so don't get too risky bringing in things that are legal in the USA but not legal in Mexico. ARRIVAL FROM CANCUN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT: Alternatively, you can fly into Cancun and ferry or fly to Cozumel. Mexican airlines fly between Cancun and Cozumel for around $100 round trip. If you are arriving by ferry from Playa Del Carmen, taxis are readily available right outside the terminal. For Costa Del Sol guests, tell the driver (Costa del Sol, Carretera Costera Sur km 12.5, South Hotel Zone." The ride take about 15-20 minutes once at the ferry BUT can take 2.5 hours+ when coming from the airport. Also, the ferry will not cross in choppy seas and can have delays. Flight time from Cancun Airport to Cozumel airport is approx 30 minutes and is usually around $100 USD or less.
