Everything in Cozumel is tourist friendly. Most merchants, hotels, and restaurants accept USD but will usually give your change in Pesos. Smaller Vendors, markets, and beach bars along the east side only accept cash (USD or Pesos.) You can bring Pesos home by requesting from your bank a couple weeks early or use the ATM Machines in town to withdraw Pesos at a lower fee. We prefer Ci Banco- make sure to avoid exchanging money at the aiport, it's much more expensive!
TRANSPORTATION TAXIS: A taxi cab from the airport to the Costa Del Sol Villas should be approximately $25 USD. Taxis only accept CASH (USD or Pesos.) Prices are fixed and based on your destination. Taxis are available just outside the terminal- no need to pre-book. They are also available outside of the Costa Del Sol Villas. PRIVATE AIRPORT TRANSFER: Pre-arrange a private shuttle for a seamless experience. Great for groups or families with luggage. Contact us for recommendation on trusted private drivers. RENTAL CARS: Best for exploring: Hertz, Avis, Budget, and Alamo have locations at or near the airport. A great option if you plan to explore the island during your stay. Don't forget Mexico requires third-party liability insurance on all rental cars! An accident without it will earn you a trip to the local jail. Google Maps and Waze are usually reliable but one-way streets can be a surprise. **Also remember scooters have the right of way and the right lane is theirs when you're making a right turn or parking!
