Mission San Juan Capistrano is a former Spanish mission founded in 1776 and a current historical landmark and museum. The mission is home to the oldest building in California still in use and is surrounded by California's oldest residential neighborhood.
Dana Point is the city where we got engaged! Strands beach is close by and has a free parking lot. Nearby Salt Creek has paid parking, picnic tables, a snack shack, basketball courts, a large lawn, and more.
This is a beautiful location for hiking, mountain biking, swimming, surfing, paddle boarding, exploring tide pools, and more.
This beach can be a little hard to find and involves descending about 300 steps, but if you're up for it, it's a beautiful, secluded spot with tide pools, volleyball courts, and a cave. From Pacific Coast Highway, you will want to find street parking between 8th and 10th Ave. Then you can head across the street at 9th and will see the small opening that gives you access to the stairs.
