Alaina recently graduated from the University of San Diego School of Law in May 2021 and passed the July 2021 California Bar Exam! She currently works for the USD Legal Clinics in the Immigration Clinic as well as the Education and Disability Clinic where she assists low-income clients.

Brandon Nehl

Groom

Brandon is pursuing his Bachelor's Degree in Geography with an Emphasis in Geographic Information Systems and Technology at San Diego State University. He is expected to graduate just 10 days before the wedding! Currently, Brandon is a GIS intern who maps wildfire evacuation routes for the Resource Conservation District of Greater San Diego County.

Leilani Duchnak

Maid of Honor

In 2012, Leilani and Alaina met in the barracks at the New Mexico Military Institute. Since then, their friendship has traveled many distances from New Mexico to Hawaii to Australia to California to Oregon. They have lived together, helped each other grow throughout their life stages, and consider each other as sisters.

Joel Goodling

Groomsman

As you may know, Joel is Alaina's uncle! Joel got to know Brandon early on in the relationship and they became friends almost immediately. From family events to bachelor parties in Las Vegas, Joel has welcomed Brandon to the family and have become good friends in the process. Joel's charismatic, fun, and chill attitude makes Joel the life of the party. No matter what is going on, Joel will manage to make sure everyone has a good time!

Annie Hill

Annie is Alaina's longest friendship as they have been best friends since kindergarten at Forest Hills Elementary! They went through all the awkward adolscent phases together from bad haircuts and blue hair to embarrassing outfits. Even though Alaina moved before high school, whenever she gets to fly back to her hometown in Oregon, they always make sure to have a date at Burgerville or meet up for an hour.

Porter Dye

Porter is Alaina's oldest brother and was one of the first of her brothers to meet Brandon. They both were able to connect not only at family events but also with their service in the United States military. Porter has helped Brandon transition into civilian life by providing helpful advice and tips to be set up for success. Brandon is happy to have him as one of his groomsman on our special day!

Peyten Maki

Peyten and Alaina sparked their friendship as dorm neighbors on the honors floor at University of Hawaii at Manoa. They have stayed best friends whose shared memories of exploring Hawaii will remain some of their fondest. From "HIIT" workouts to riding the never-ending bus for movie dates to hiking Lani Kai Pillboxes, they cannot help but laugh and have a good time together!

Eloy Gonzalez

Groomsman

Eloy and Brandon met each other at San Diego State University in one of the many classes they shared as Geography majors. Together, they biked along and kayaked down the L.A. River. Most recently, they hiked through the Grand Canyon, kayaked down the Colorado River, and traveled to Monument Valley. Many think that we might have known each other for a lifetime! Eloy has become such an amazing friend in Brandon's life in California and is honored to have him as one of his groomsmen.

Chanelle Nehl

Chanelle and Alaina instantly connected when meeting each other for the first time in Missouri. As Brandon's favorite (and only) sibling, Alaina was stressed about making a good impression with Chanelle, but within minutes of meeting her felt comfortable. Alaina is thrilled to have such a kind and compassionate sister-in-law and friend in her life!

Jacob Dye

Jacob and Brandon became friends shortly after meeting each other for the first time in California. As Alaina's protective twin brother, Jacob made Brandon extra nervous before proposing to Alaina because he had one more approval to get. Brandon is looking forward to having a brother-in-law and is ecstatic that Jacob welcomed Brandon into his amazing family!

Emily and Alaina became best friends after meeting in sixth grade at Oak Creek Elementary. Their strong bond was founded on endless sleepovers and Alaina practically living at Emily's house growing up! They shared all their secrets, favorite books, and crazy childhood memories together. Their similar interests have even led them to share their current experience of being stressed, tired law students!

Maria and Alaina's friendship began when they were the only women in a weight-lifting class full of men at the New Mexico Military Institute. Alaina was so relieved to have a partner to squat with, until....Maria dropped the class! Despite Maria's "betrayal," they became best friends as they shared volleyball, quesadilla dates, ropes course, and many more memories!
