New York City has always been a special place for us. When Brandon met Mikala there for her work trip, it felt like a little return to the days when we lived in Ellicott City, Maryland, and would often escape to NYC for good food, live music, and adventure. That week, we spent our evenings wandering the city, checking out new spots, and soaking in the energy of a place that has meant so much to us. By Friday, with work wrapped up, we decided to head to Brooklyn. It was a romantic, rainy evening, and we found ourselves walking down to DUMBO—an iconic spot with a stunning view of the Manhattan skyline and charming cobblestone streets that glistened in the rain. And then, in a moment that was so perfectly us—spontaneous and full of love—Brandon asked for the ring I was already wearing and got down on one knee. It was the same ring he had given me years ago for Christmas, making the moment even more special. The best part? He had the official ring back at the hotel, but the moment felt right, and he couldn’t wait. We celebrated by walking along the waterfront in bliss before heading to one of our old favorite spots, Superfine, for champagne and a few rounds of billiards. Later that night, back at Columbus Circle, we had a romantic dinner at a French restaurant, where Brandon popped the question again—this time with the ring he had been carrying. It was the perfect end to an unforgettable trip, and now, we can’t wait for forever as husband, wife, and best friends.
