Enjoy sweeping vistas of El Yunque when you climb up the 98-step spiral staircase that leads to the top of the imposing Yokahú Observation Tower. There are a variety of trails and paths for hikers of all skill levels. One of the most famous trails leads to Mt. Britton. Along the way you’ll pass a stone tower built in the 1930s by the Civillian Conservation Corps located at one of the highest elevations in El Yunque. On clear days, hikers can view the surrounding forest, Atlantic Ocean, and the southeastern and northeastern coastal plain. This hike is approximately 1.3 km and takes 20 to 40 minutes to complete. For a walk to waterfalls, check out the Juan Diego stream. A less popular hike, but dubbed “El Yunque’s best kept secret,” the path leads to three stunning waterfalls where you can jump in the water and relish in the wonderful scenery. The trail can be steep and muddy in certain spots, so be careful and choose appropriate footwear.

The Humacao Natural Reserve is located on Puerto Rico's southeast coast, between the towns of Humacao and Naguabo. This natural reserve was established in 1986 and it's managed by Puerto Rico's Department of Natural Resources. There is kayaking and bike rental on site. Within the reserve, you'll find multiple trails for hiking and biking, stretches of beaches, fishing spots, and more.
The Taínos left evidence of their presence in the form of petroglyphs, which were carved on rocks in streams, ball courts, and caves. This historic ceremonial park has more than 200 petroglyphs, three "bateys" (ceremonial plazas), and hiking trails and camping areas. The park can only be visited with a prior appointment that has to be coordinated through the town's local tourism office.

The Hacienda Buena Vista, located in Ponce, tells the story of the Island’s coffee production prime days more than 150 years ago. The restored historical site consists of a Spanish colonial main house, slave quarters, farm buildings, and other processing areas. This hacienda served as one of the main producers of coffee in the 19th century, cultivating some of the finest beans consumed. The water of a nearby river powers original hydraulic turbines as its main engine. Current guided tours teach the role plantation owners and slaves had in the production of goods and the growing and processing of cocoa, coffee, and other local products.
