Our love story began in Limerick, Ireland, during a basketball tournament. At the time, both of us were working toward our master’s degrees—Shannon in Dublin and Keelan in Belfast—while also playing basketball for our respective clubs. Keelan walked into the gym, and Shannon thought, “Wow, the first male over 6’2” I’ve seen in Ireland." We noticed each other from across the gym and even tried to sneak into conversations with mutual friends throughout the day. Since then, we’ve made a home for ourselves in the “People’s Republic,” also known as Cork. While we frequently travel to Belfast and across the ocean to Boston, we are grateful for our basketball family and community in the south. Over the last six years together, we’ve experienced wins and losses both on the basketball court and in life. But we’ve built a strong foundation of communication, trust and laughter that allows us to tackle each new obstacle as it comes. On December 19th, 2023—just three days shy of our fifth-year anniversary—Keelan got down on one knee (however painful) and proposed to Shannon at sunset on the beach in her hometown of Scituate, Massachusetts. When deciding where to host our wedding, it became clear that we wanted it to reflect who we are as a couple. We envisioned waking up in the countryside, swimming in the ocean, and enjoying creamy pints of Guinness in the local pub. It's the simple things in life that mean the most - and we can't wait to share these simple pleasures with the people we love from near and far.
