Think lush greenery, bistro lights, open-air garden, and a cozy indoor space with high ceilings and natural light. It's intimate, romantic, and surrounded by plants everywhere you look. We fell in love with it immediately.
Blockhouse PDX is located at 1988 NW 18th Ave, Portland, OR 97209, tucked inside Pomarius Nursery near the Pearl District. It's a hidden gem and you'll feel like you've stepped out of the city the moment you arrive!
Blockhouse is just minutes from downtown Portland and the Pearl District, which have lots of great hotel options and Airbnbs at every price point. Please see the "Travel" tab for our lodging recommendations.
Street parking is available in the surrounding neighborhood. We recommend either walking or using a rideshare (Lyft/Uber) if you're planning to drink and celebrate, as the venue is easy to get to from most Portland hotels.
For our wedding at Blockhouse, we request cocktail attire with an 'urban garden' twist. Think chic midi dresses, elegant jumpsuits, or sharp suits and blazers. We can't wait to see you dressed up and ready to celebrate in this little green oasis! For those joining us for our after party at The Gorge, we suggest dressing in something fun and festive: think colorful prints, flowy silhouettes, and anything that makes you want to dance! Since we'll be celebrating outdoors in the high desert, we recommend walkable shoes and bringing a cozy layer for when the sun goes down and the desert breeze kicks in.
Absolutely. Blockhouse is built around a chef-inspired kitchen and our catering team will be serving a delicious dinner for everyone including vegetarian and vegan options. Alcohol will also be available.
We're having an unplugged ceremony, so please put the phones and cameras away for those few minutes... then feel free to go wild! We'd love for you to share any photos from the rest of the day to our Google Photo album (coming soon).
One charming quirk is that there's an occasional train that passes nearby. Past couples say it added to the charm of the day and we're inclined to agree!
Yep, about half of the wedding guests will be joining our caravan to The Gorge Amphitheatre in George, WA for Above & Beyond's Group Therapy 700, which is their milestone 700th episode celebration. It's a once-in-a-lifetime event and we couldn't think of a better way to keep the party going.
The weekend runs September 11–13. Since we're heading out the morning after the wedding (Sept 11), we'll catch the Friday pre-party — which is extra special this year because Above & Beyond will perform their Deep Set live for the first time ever at an ABGT pre-party. Saturday (Sept 12) is the main ABGT700 show, and Sunday (Sept 13) closes out with Anjunadeep Open Air featuring Ben Böhmer.
It's roughly a 3-hour drive east along I-84 and US-97, through the Columbia River Gorge — a gorgeous route in its own right. We'll be caravanning together, so no one has to navigate alone!
Yep, tickets are separate from the wedding. Two-day passes are available, with an add-on for the Friday pre-party. Check abgt700.live for tickets and info. Please text us for more info before you buy your ticket.
September in the Gorge means warm days and cool nights. Bring layers! The venue has on-site food and drinks. It's an outdoor amphitheatre with a stunning view of the Columbia River, which we think is truly some of the most beautiful concert scenery on earth.
You need a ticket to enter the event, and it's basically camping-only, so it's a definitely a commitment. Above & Beyond does convert a lot of people, though! Their music is melodic and emotional and the Gorge setting makes it transcendent. Come with an open mind!
Yes, that's the plan! We're excited to listen and dance to our favorite music and then have one big slumber party surrounded by good friends. In order to make that happen, we'll all need to arrive at the Gorge at the same time on Friday, September 11th!
We've started a Google Sheet to track planning for this event, but we'll make sure to eventually communicate further info as we get closer to September. For now, here's a link to the sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1TmYT46IeFY-xnoMOYEjlLGbISPasF7BnEud1Hq7WfaU
