Flight

Split, Croatia (SPU)

The closest major airport is in Split (SPU). From there you will take a taxi or Uber into town and can either arrange a private boat transfer or take the Jadrolinija Ferry to Vis Town from the main ferry terminal. We have traveled throughout Croatia on the ferries, and while they are not glamorous, they have been perfectly fine.

Travel Note

Jadrolinija Ferry

The ferry from Split to Vis Town is about 2.5 hours. You can view the ferry schedule here: https://www.jadrolinija.hr/en/ferry-croatia Do not be alarmed if they have not already posted the ferry schedule for August. You can normally only view about 1 month in advance. IN GENERAL there are 3 or 4 trips from Split to Vis per day: Around 10-11am, around 2-3pm, around 6-7pm, and sometimes a late one around 8:30pm. Tickets can be purchased online from the site above, or you can get them at the ticket kiosk at the Split ferry terminal.

Check out AirBnB for listings

The shuttle to Fort George on the night of the wedding will pick up in the center of Vis Town, so the easiest place to stay in order to catch that shuttle is in Vis Town or Kut.

Travel Note

Sample Itinerary

In its simplest form, you can get to Vis by flying into Split (SPU) and then taking the Jadrolinija ferry to Vis. We will be on the island of Vis from Thursday, August 6th until Monday, August 10th. I’ll give you a breakdown of our itinerary as a guide. Thursday, August 4th: Depart Los Angeles - We will fly LA → (European City) → Split Friday, August 5th: Arrive in Split - We land in the afternoon on 8/5 - Stay 1 night in Split at a hotel Saturday, August 6th: Take the Jadrolinija ferry to Vis - Ferry info in note above If you do not want to spend a night in Split, you will need to make sure you land at SPU in time to go through customs and then get a taxi or uber to the ferry (probably a 45 min drive). Depending on the schedule and when it is posted, the last ferry to Vis might be at 6pm (arriving in Vis around 8:30pm). We recommend planning to be on Vis by Sunday, August 7th so you can spend the night, conquer some jet lag, and get ready for the wedding on Saturday night!

Shuttle
