There's nothing special about the day Mike and Kat met in 2006. It was within the first few weeks at Fairfield University. Out on the quad, a girl approached a boy, who was wearing a shirt from her all-girls high school alma mater. They soon learned they likely attended events together in high school at their brother-sister school events, and thus their friendship began. Although Mike left Fairfield University, they remained friends, with Mike visiting Fairfield two years later and crashing on Kat's townhouse couch. The summer of 2009 is when their story really began.
Mike and Kat started dating right when Kat went back to Fairfield for her senior year. Because that's when all love stories start -- right before your last year of college. They made it through the first year together as a long distance relationship, with Mike traveling many miles back and forth so they could both have the best senior year Kat hoped for.
Mike went above and beyond in his plan to propose to Kat. He planned it for when they were visiting Kat's cousin in London. The first surprise was Mike had them go to a location so that Tower Bridge was in the background "to see the sunset." Spoiler alert - there aren't a lot of sunsets in rainy London. The next surprise was the professional photographer Mike hired to take their photos. The third and final surprise was that some of their closest friends and Kat's cousin joined them for some photo ops. After a lot of tears, they all enjoyed a memorable dinner (and lots of drinks) afterwards. Mike made it truly amazing and worth the wait.
