How We Met

First Comes Band Practice, Then Comes Marriage

Austin and I met in the most romantic way possible...on Bumble (which is a dating app for those non millennials). The funny thing is, we didn't actually meet intending to date each other, we were both hoping to find someone who loved making music. We started playing at an open mic night semi-regularly and once I heard Austin's rendition of "Let's Get It On”, I wanted to do exactly that. Totally kidding…kind of. We then went on to do all the normal things couples just starting to date do. We bought a school bus (bad idea), decided to renovate an entire house ourselves while living in it (horrible idea), and both had jobs working from home in a tiny office together (surprisingly ok idea). After two years spending almost every second of everyday of every week together, we haven’t killed each other yet and still want more.

The Proposal

06.12.2019

I had planned for months to propose to Megan during a camping trip to Yosemite. I was really fortunate that this spectacular national park had so many beautiful places because Megan ended up being really sick, so I kept changing my proposal plan on the fly. I knew no matter what that I had to make it happen, I’ll be damned if that ring wasn't burning a hole in my pocket! We would go to another landmark and every time with fingers crossed I’d ask, “how are you feeling now?”, but was always met with a “still not good". Megan was a trooper though and kept insisting we see everything we could. The next day was Megan’s birthday and she was feeling better than she had the whole trip, so we decided to hike Mist Trail. I truly didn’t know where I would drop to a knee at this point, but it just felt right as it was already a special day and we were in good spirits. We finally got to where the trail opened up to an incredible view of a waterfall and I knew it was the moment. When I got to ask my best friend to spend forever with me, I was so nervous I could barely get the words out. Both of us were smiling ear-to-ear when she said, "YES!". The whole hike back to our campsite I kept thinking how lucky I was, and always will be, as long as I have her by my side.

For all the days along the way
