This adults only affair is your day-off :) Unfortunately we cannot accommodate kids at any of the wedding festivities. If you would like to bring your kids along for the trip, please feel free to use Aspen Babysitting Company for childcare. http://www.aspenbabysittingcompany.com
We are so excited to celebrate with you in the beautiful state of Colorado! You'll be staying at an elevation above 8,000 ft. while in Aspen (and/or Snowmass). Here are a few recommendations to help acclimate to the higher elevation so you may enjoy the entire wedding weekend of activities! * Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Begin drinking lots of water (2-3) days prior to your arrival in Colorado and continuously throughout your stay * If your schedule and budget allow, plan to arrive (1-2) days prior to the BIG day to allow your body to adjust gradually to the substantial increase in altitude. If you’re planning to spend some time in Colorado, consider acclimating gradually by starting your trip in Denver for a day! This will allow your body to adjust to 5,280 ft before heading into the mountains. * Alcohol will affect you faster than normal. (1) drink = (3) drinks. Your body will process alcohol faster than at home. Drink responsibly! We highly encourage you to review the link provided below for additional tips & tricks to altitude acclimation! https://www.rei.com/learn/expert-advice/altitude-sickness.html
Mountain party attire! Think "Garden Party" but at 11,212 feet :) Guests are encouraged to wear appropriate footwear for a mountain ceremony and bring a shawl or jacket (may experience cooler temperatures at the top of the mountain). Definitely bring sunglasses! For Those Who Prefer a Masculine Style: We recommend a suit and tie, a dinner jacket and dress pants, or khakis and a nice button-up shirt. For shoes, we recommend dress shoes or dressy loafers. For those who prefer a feminine style: We recommend a nice dress, suit or jumpsuit. The ceremony will outdoors, so we recommend block heels or flats.
There is a wonderful bus system that runs through Aspen that you can take everywhere. For the wedding day, we’ll be providing a gondola ride to the top of the mountain for all guests. For anyone who has never experienced a mountain gondola or who tends to nervous about heights, we promise the ride is smooth and safe, and the scenery will be unforgettable!
Waterproof jacket and umbrella. As the saying goes in Colorado, “If you don’t like the weather, wait 10 minutes.” If it rains, it won't rain for long! Activewear. If you're planning on doing some adventuring while you're in town, we recommend clothes to hike/run/bike. Sun hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Even if shopping is your most strenuous activity, the sun is far more brutal at 8,000-feet. Keep your skin protected by wearing a brimmed hat. Sunglasses are a must. Swimsuit, if you're interested in dipping in the pool or water activities like rafting. Out-and-about attire. Aspen is casual and chic at the same time. Think jeans, stylish sneaks or sandals, and a button-down or nice tee for a night on the town. Don't forget a light jacket.
Typical weather in Aspen in August is a high of 76 and a low of 47. Once the sun dips behind the mountains it gets chilly so you'll definitely want to bring a sweatshirt for mornings and evenings.
