Bats Across Texas
Watch every night as more than a million bats fly out from under the Congress Ave bridge and begin their evenings hunt. Get there early as the bridge does fill up. There are also options to watch them from boat tours/ rentals
Rainey Street Historic District
Some of the oldest houses in the city converted into hip and trendy bars giving it a very cozy vibe. A more classy bar scene than 6th Street
East 6th Street
East 6th or "Dirty 6th" as the locals call it, is lined with bars and venues and closes to traffic on the weekend so that it can "Keep Austin Weird". Great for people watching, bar hopping, listening to live music, and whatever else might happen on Dirty 6th
Stevie Ray Vaughan Statue
Check out the beautiful park along Lady Bird Lake and the statue of Stevie Ray Vaughan, a former Austinite.
The Ranch
This is the first place that David and Kim went out dancing and so marked the start of their romantic relationship. The bar's along the "nice" side of Sixth Street, offers a classic bar downstairs with dancing upstairs and a beautiful lookout over the city.
Irene’s
Super cute spot known for it's brunch that people love to use as a Instagram photo op. Kim worked as a bartender there through part of graduate school.
South Congress
Hip and trendy street just south of downtown that's lined with restaurants and shops, like LuLu Lemon and Lucy in Disguise (costume shop), and was a very popular place that these two broke graduate students like to walk and enjoy the sights.
Moontower Saloon
Want to stay closer to South Austin? Check out his bar that sits on over 10 acres of land, has multiple volley ball courts, two fire pits, corn hole, ring toss, live music, and so much more. This super cool bar is one that Kim worked at as a bartender and David as a door guy, and will give you a true feel for Austin summer nights out.
