We love children, but the ceremony and reception are for adults only. If you would like babysitting recommendations please reach out to us and we will send some your way!
Yes! There is no public parking at the venue so we will have a shuttle service to get all of our guests to the venue. We will have several vans that will be looping from 3:15-4:15 to ensure to get everyone up in time for the wedding at 4:30pm. We will have a schedule and let you know when you are to meet the shuttle. It is very important that people are on time so we can get everyone up in a timely manner. Don't worry we will have pre-ceremony drinks up there for those who go up early!
Yes, please let us know when you RSVP. There will be a line where you can make a note to us! :)
Being a mountain town and high altitude weather can change on a dime. Average August temperature in Crested Butte is a high of 75 and a low of 38. With that being said when the sun is out it can feel quiet warm (even hot!), but once the sun goes down it can get chilly. The key to dressing well in Colorado is to dress in layers! It's not uncommon for Crested Butte to have quick afternoon rain showers, so a light rain jacket might be nice to have.
Yes! Being at higher elevations can cause lightheadedness, headaches, nausea, and shortness of breath for some. The number one way to prevent altitude sickness is to stay very hydrated and minimize your intake of alcohol. We recommend people give 48 hours to "acclimate" to the altitude. The town of Crested Butte sits at about 9,000 feet and our venue is at approximately 10,000 feet. If at some point you start experiencing symptoms, the only sure way to cure altitude sickness is to descend from elevation. Our shuttle service will be happy to escort anyone down the mountain who requires assistance. It is very rare for altitude sickness to affect people to this extent but it's important to take precautions by drinking plenty of water. Remember 1 alcoholic drink in elevation= 2 drinks at sea level! Also of note, at higher elevations the air is thinner and therefore UV rays are stronger. Don't forget to protect yourself and wear your sunscreen!
There is a free town shuttle called The Mountain Express. This is a great way to get around town without having to get behind a wheel! Please check out their website www.mtnexp.org to find their current schedule and routes.
Dressing in layers is key! Overall Crested Butte is a quiet, relaxed and causal mountain town. Bring a good pair of tennis shoes or hiking shoes if you plan to go for a hike. CB will tend to have quick afternoon rainstorms, so a light rain jacket would be nice to have. As for suggested attire for the wedding, please see the "schedule" tab for more details. We ultimately want people comfortable as our wedding will be taking place on a mountain with varied terrain (brick, grass, cement, crush gravel, dirt path, ect)... we would recommend for the gals to leave their 6" stilettos at home, but you do you! :)
