We’re getting Maui’d!

For spring break, we decided to spend some time in Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. On the day Bryan proposed, he took me out for lunch and then snorkeling in the beautiful blue water. Later, we went to Manini’owali Beach to watch the sunset. I remember noticing that Bryan had stopped to pick up some beers and I noticed he also brought a bottle of champagne, which struck me as a little unusual. As the sun began to set, Bryan set up his GoPro, saying he wanted to capture the sunset—but what he was really doing was capturing our moment. When it happened, I didn’t even realize at first what was unfolding. Then suddenly, everything became real—we cried, we laughed, and we were so excited as we soaked in the joy of that perfect moment. Because our car got stuck at the beach, we spent some time looking at the stars until eventually we ended up taking an Uber back into town. We stopped at a nearby bar to keep the celebration going with Mai Tais, and the bartender took photos of us—our very first pictures as an engaged couple. It was such a fun and happy ending to the most unforgettable night.
