Our favorite bar. Sports pub and home of the Brooklyn Spurs supporters club, stop for a beer and a Thai Curry Pie or prosciutto panini. Also does a mean mulled cider or Irish coffee for the winter!
Make a reservation here. GREAT little wine bar with natural wine and a cozy interior. Allegedly natural wines don't give you as much of a hangover. Just saying.
We love going here (and to its sister site on the Rockaway boardwalk in the summer!) for its arepas and Micheladas - no Mexican/Californian tomato juice in the Micheladas here! Michael recommends the La Reina arepa and Sarah lives and dies by De Pabellon. Wonderful bartenders at its rum bar too!
One of our favorite date spots - Moroccan food in a cute cafe setting. Make a reservation beforehand! Also does brunch.
We've only been to Kick Axe Throwing down in Gowanus in the south of Brooklyn, but this place is right around the corner to the Williamsburg Hotel. They have pizza, nachos and beer for an easy lunch, but just don't go losing a thumb on us :)
Main food and shopping street in Williamsburg - stroll along for thrift shops, restaurants, bars, and activities!
Italian/Pizza spot with cute backyard beer garden and second floor lounge.
Funky vintage / thrift shop. One of the many thrift shops off Driggs Ave and Bedford Ave.
A fairly new addition, Domino Park is an ode to the old Domino sugar factory that once stood there. Designers incorporated the old factory into the park structure, making for a great view of Manhattan if it isn't too cold out. The taco bar there is mediocre - cocktails are fine, but skip the tacos.
If you're looking to venture to Crown Heights where we live, take the B44 bus using your metrocard down to St. Johns and Nostrand Ave to try out our fave breakfast spot! Get the decadent horchata drink and the chorizo egg sandwich on your way to walk Eastern Parkway - the Champs d'Elyses of Brooklyn.
Also in Crown Heights, this is one of Sarah's favorite museums for its mix of art, sculpture, and cultural exhibits. It's also part of a lovely walk down Eastern Parkway - you can continue on to the Brooklyn Library or Prospect Park. The "Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams" is on view until February - make sure you buy the $25 tickets early, as they are in addition to the pay-what-you-want entrance fee.
A garden in the winter, you say? Yes we do! We recommend walking Domino Park in Williamsburg for a short jaunt, but if you're in the mood for an adventure to Crown Heights, the Botanic Garden does have its greenhouses open in the winter where you can visit the desert and tropics along with the bonsai exhibit!
It's a trek, and we recommend taking a cab to get to Gowanus, but if you do you'll be rewarded with a trifecta of fun. Throw some axes at Kick Axe Throwing on Degraw Street before snagging a shuffleboard court at the Royal Palms, and then close out with dinner at Insa for Korean Barbecue, Ghenet for Ethiopian across the street, or Dinosaur BBQ. We really wanted to do our afterparty here on Saturday, but they don't allow kids - not even infants!
One of our favorite breweries and summer haunts, but it has a heated backyard as well. We like it so much we almost hosted the wedding here!
Korean BBQ for when you tire of Threes beer and want something more than Threes' limited menu.
One of our favorite sit-down Neapolitan-style pizza places - excellent "fancy" pies and solid wine selection.
Sister restaurant to Brooklyn Pizza Crew in our neighborhood, this place has solid slices and pies.
Michael's "Best Pizza I've Ever Had." Oftentimes a wait, outdoor seating / takeaway only at the moment.
Pub with a BANGIN fried chicken sandwich. May or may not best after imbibing a beer or two first.
Our go-to for a quick slice or to-go pie in our neighborhood.
Take a cab to get out into the industrial hip part of town for a solid brewery experience.
Do you love oysters and cocktails? Then this is the place for you. Stepping into this bar feels like you're walking into 1920s Louisiana. Or so we presume. Great cocktails, big selection of absinthe, and solid oysters - just don't come here for a full meal.
Are you into skyline views? Not afraid of heights? The Edge just opened up in Hudson Yards, a newly developed area with sculpture and luxury stores. Highest open-air observing deck in the world. Enjoy, you will not catch Sarah there.
Small, local bar owned by a dude from Forty-Fort, and known to be a favorite of the Billions cast and crew (ok, not Damian Lewis, but still.) Get the Grasshopper and enjoy the vibes!
Minimalist, large Japanese place with good sake and a lovely menu.
Yes, Broadway is back! Go check out a show Saturday or Sunday - we've heard Hadestown is great, about the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, or Six, about the six wives of Henry VIII. Other crowd favorites are Hamilton, Wicked, and Dear Evan Hansen! Drunk Shakespeare - an off-Broadway show - is also a riot if you're into that kind of thing. Please note that several shows and the Met Opera now require booster vaccine verification as well.
