Hotel
While we are able to accommodate some of our loved ones overnight at Chateau Sentout (Monday - Friday), we unfortunately do not have the capacity to sleep all of our guests on site. However, there are many hotels/B&Bs in the area that we can recommend to you. Feel free to reach out to us for questions or help with booking! We have family who can help with translation if needed. Here are just a few of our suggestions: - Maison Cabane-Blanche (www.maisoncabaneblanche.com): 12 min walk, Sleeps 10 - Jardin Meurin (www.jardinmeurin.com): 15 min walk/3 min drive, Sleeps 8 across 4 rooms - Chateau Champcenetz (champcenetz.com): 20 min walk/3 min drive, Sleeps 12 across 7 rooms - La Suite des Augustins (www.lasuitedesaugustins.fr): 4 min drive, Sleeps 2 - Château Renon (chateau-renon.fr/en/home): 5 min drive, Sleeps 12 across 6 rooms - 1986MALAGAR (malagar.hotels-aquitaine.com/en): 5 min drive - Chateau Bessan Tabanac (chateaubessan.fr/chambres-d-hotes-tabanac/): 6 min drive - Maison Port Valade (www.maisonportvalade.com): 8 min drive - Hilton Garden Inn Bordeaux Centre: 20 min drive (for those looking to stay in the city/close to the train station) - Any hotel in the Chartrons area of Bordeaux: 30 min drive (trendy/walkable area with shops & restaurants close to city center) We will have a shuttle providing transport to and from the venue on the day of the wedding for anyone staying within 10 minutes of the venue. For all others, we recommend Uber, Bolt, or traditional taxicabs. More details to come on this. *We would love for all of our off-site guests to spend as much time as they'd like during the week at the Chateau! We will have games, food, drinks, swimming, and organized sight-seeing excursions. Join for anything you'd like, but absolutely feel free to do your own thing, too! You'll have the opportunity to indicate which activities you plan to participate in when you RSVP so we can plan accordingly.*
Flight
The Bordeaux airport is the closest airport to our venue (about 35 minutes by car), and has direct flights from Dublin, London, Lisbon, Paris, Edinburgh, Rome, Barcelona, Venice, Amsterdam, Berlin, Athens, Florence, Madrid, and Copenhagen (among several others). We have found that the cheapest transatlantic flights from the United States typically fly into Dublin or London, and sometimes you can keep costs down by booking the tickets separately. For example, some of the Nashville crew plans on booking a flight from Nashville to Dublin, and then another flight from Dublin to Bordeaux a few days later. We recommend using the 'Explore' feature of Google Flights to find the most cost effective route and travel dates. NOTE: If you are connecting through London or Paris, please pay attention to which airport you are booking as these cities have multiple airports (and some are very far apart).
Flight
Another option is to fly into Paris and take the TGV (high speed train) from Paris to Bordeaux, which takes about 2 hours. The train departs the Paris Montparnasse Station, which is about 45 minutes by car from the Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. If you are considering this option, we would recommend spending a day or two in Paris, as the train station is more easily accessible from the city center (and also because it's Paris!) Check out our 'Things to do in Paris' section below for our recommendations on what to do during your stopover!
Train
The TGV is France's high-speed train system. We recommend booking tickets in advance to ensure the best prices and availability, but this is a reliable and economic mode of transportation. If you are taking the direct route from Paris to Bordeaux, then you'll want to search for results from Paris Montparnasse to Bordeaux Saint-Jean. The Bordeaux station is about 20 minutes from our venue by car. You can search for tickets through this site (and translate the page to English):
Rental Car
If you are planning to rent a car, there are several regional airports that are within a 3 hour drive of our venue to consider flying into if it suits your travel plans better. Most of these are very small airports and fly to just a few cities on budget airlines such as RyanAir & EasyJet, so you would really only want to use these to connect within Europe. - Bergerac (EGC): 1 hour 25 minutes by car (85 km) - Pau (PUF): 1 hour 55 minutes by car (186 km) - La Rochelle (LRH): 2 hours 10 minutes by car (205 km) - Brive-la-Gaillarde (BVE): 2 hours 10 minutes by car (213 km) - Toulouse (TLS): 2 hours 15 minutes by car (231 km) - Lourdes (LDE): 2 hours 15 minutes by car (236 km) - Biarritz (BIQ): 2 hours 30 minutes by car (239 km) If you choose not to rent a car, Bordeaux has Uber, Bolt, and traditional taxicabs. Requesting a ride originating in Bordeaux will be no problem, but you may have more difficulty with rides originating outside of the city center. Our recommendation would be to schedule rides ahead of time as much as possible.
Travel Note
Use the link below to see a list of attractions, hotels, activities, and tips for getting around Paris! In addition, we'd recommend the below restaurants. There are MANY great options, but these have been tested & confirmed delicious by us personally: - Parcelles: Rachel and her mom ate here and it was one of the greatest dining experiences they've ever had. They have a rotating menu of incredible dishes, and they'd just recommend ordering whatever your server suggests. You will definitely need a reservation as space is very limited. Also, fun fact - Taylor Swift dined here with her crew during her Eras tour! - Au Pere Louis: Alex and Rachel had perhaps the best bowl of french onion soup they've ever had here. They'd go back and just order 2 (or 3) bowls each!
