Please remain cautious of crocodiles. Crocodiles live in the waters of FNQ and we advise against swimming in other areas of the beach, except within the stinger net that is patrolled by lifeguards. Be sure to check with the lifeguards before swimming. We highly advise against swimming in the inlets (around the Sugar Wharf and Marina area) or near/in any creeks, rivers or openings. There has been recent crocodile sightings in the area. Be Crocwise!
Travel Note
In September, the presence of Irukandji (Small dangerous jellyfish) in the waters is unlikely. Typically, stinger season runs from November through to May. However, if they do appear, you can still swim at the beach within the stinger net area that is supervised by lifeguards.
