We are so looking forward to celebrating our marriage with all of you soon! The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way in which we will be gathering together. We are still getting married on our original wedding date of October 10, 2020, however on this day we will be joined by only our immediate family. We have rescheduled our reception, in which all of our wedding guests are invited to, for October 9, 2021. We are looking forward to celebrating with you all 364 days into our marriage! Stay safe and stay well!
We wanted to watch Disney together, so settled on Bill Nye the Science Guy. After watching an episode or two, good ol’ Bill starts talking about how anyone can make science with their hands and how we all have science hands. So Josh turns to me and says “Are you ready? Are you ready to hold the science hands?” And I’ve been holding his science hands ever since.
Josh speaking. It was a muddy and dreary day, but I was on a mission. I had a ring and a plan. That morning, a heifer had gone missing. I used this excuse to borrow dad's truck to drive around the farm property (offroad, this will be important later). Attempt 1: There's a place on the family farm with majestic views of the mountains on a grassy knoll. At the base of the hill sits the remnants of a cabin that my great great grandparents lived in. I had this whole speech planned out "my family started here, I want ours to start here too..." etc. Only problem is, this area is impossible to drive in the mud. And it was MUDDY. Cue my dad rescuing me with a chain, and an hour later I was on dry ground, but alas, not engaged. Attempt 2: By now, it was getting dark, but it was the evening of the "super blood moon". There's another place with similar views, but on a gravel driveway. It looks over the actual farm, so most of my speech could be recycled. Only problem was... it was freezing. And windy. And this location is right next to a heifer barn, who think that headlights = food, so she couldn't hear me... she said yes, but I consider this a half engagement. Onto the final attempt. Attempt 3: Both of us were feeling a little down- this wasn't the Disney movie, hallmark, man in a flannel falls in love with the smart but emotionally out of touch business woman proposal we'd hoped for. We dejectedly drove home. We attempted driving around for a while, looking for a new location, but found nothing, and since it was now cloudy and dark, pulled into my driveway. In the living room, I got down on one knee, and after a few tears, I think I choked out something touching and profound (not sure, you'll need to ask Rory), and she said YES AGAIN! She put up with all of it, she loves me anyways, and I can tell you, she's ready. I love her so much I proposed 3 times.
