How we met

Colliervile, Tennessee

We actually met back in high school, his freshman year/my sophomore year, in the Police Explorers program. This is no ‘high school sweethearts’ story, though! We reconnected through Facebook in 2013 and that’s when the real adventure began!

Our beginning

"If you're not doing anything later...will you be my girlfriend?"

When Bryan picked me up for our first date, he was an absolute gentleman. He also had to make sure I knew it wasn’t his car we were in - he had an awesome Jeep that was in the shop. *eye roll* Haha Our first date was at El Porton for some delicious Mexican food, then we watched a movie, he showed me his old art portfolio, and we talked for hours. I knew from day one that there was something special between us...I had so many butterflies! We fell completely in love within a matter of weeks, and when he went back to school in Missouri, we did the long distance thing (which I always said I would never do!). We were that annoying, corny couple who took a ton of selfies and celebrated monthly anniversaries - he would get me flowers and chocolate every month! Some thought we were crazy...but when you know, you just know! I never believed in destiny until I reconnected with Bryan. Even my friends and family commented on how happy I seemed to be since meeting him. Our parents all went to high school together, and our grandparents live in neighborhoods next to each other... we were just meant to be!

How he proposed

...finally!

On December 22nd, 2017 (the day before Bryan’s birthday!), I had planned a family photo shoot. The Christmas lights would be on at the town square which would make for some great photos, and we had an awesome photographer, Jason Ducham! It was storming all day long and was forecasted to continue through the night. We almost cancelled, and then I thought Bryan and I could at least do some cute umbrella photos - but of course, Mom convinced me that she wanted pictures of the girls and everyone, too, so we would all go. When we arrived at the Collierville Town Square, the rain stopped. But the Christmas lights weren’t lit up! There were only a few, so Bryan had to alter his planned proposal spot. I had no idea it was coming... all I remember is thinking “stop moving your arm!” as we posed next to each other (He was getting the ring out of his back pocket). Next thing I know he is on one knee, and I was in tears! We went to his parents house afterwards for champagne, and then ordered pizza to celebrate! :)
