What is the difference between The Abbey Resort and Abbey Springs Country Club?

Answer

This is the most common question we receive! The two locations are totally unrelated but within about a 5 minute drive from each other. The Abbey Resort: The Abbey Resort is the hotel in Fontana, WI where we have our room block for the wedding. Abbey Springs Country Club: Abbey Springs Country Club is where the reception and cocktail hour will take place. The cocktail hour will be hosted outdoors along the Lake and the reception will be indoors.

Is there a dress code?

Answer

We hope our wedding will be a fun excuse to wear your favorite cocktail attire! For men, this means a sport jacket and tie/bow tie.

Any other special attire notes we should know?

Answer

The weather in August in Wisconsin is very unpredictable! Please keep an eye on the forecast in the days leading up to the wedding in case it is hot or if a slight drizzle is expected. The ceremony and cocktail hour will be outside.

Will transportation be provided to the ceremony and/or reception?

Answer

Transportation will not be provided to the ceremony at the Yerkes Observatory. We are providing transportation to Abbey Springs Country Club, the location of the cocktail hour and reception. A shuttle will be transporting guests from The Abbey Resort (Hotel) to Abbey Springs Country Club immediately following the ceremony. We encourage guests to use the shuttle service even if you are not staying at the Abbey Resort. Uber and Lyft are also available in Fontana and Lake Geneva.

Will there be food and drinks served?

Answer

Oh yes there will! We will have passed appetizers, a full open bar, as well as a 3-course meal, and a six-tier wedding cake!

Are there other wedding events I’m invited to?

Answer

Everybody is welcome to celebrate the start of the wedding weekend at Chucks Lakeshore Inn, our favorite bar along Lake Geneva! We will be gathering at the bar around 9 PM on Friday, August 17 and look forward to seeing you there.

Will there be dancing/entertainment?

Answer

Um, did Frank Sinatra drink? LOL. Of course we will have dancing. We have arranged for a Wedding Band that will help you dance your tush off.

What time should we be there?

The ceremony will begin at 4:00 p.m on August 18. We kindly ask guests to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony.
