Our Story

A classic MoCo love tale

Ours is the typical Montgomery County friend group story. We had a lot of mutual friends and our paths definitely crossed, but we didn't officially meet until Aug. 3, 2018 at our friend Tom Natali's concert at The Bullpen by Nats Park. Bobby almost had to work. Megan almost didn't go. But it was meant to be. After talking more at Bluejacket later that night, Bobby invited "Healy" to our other friend Ian Foster's BBQ that Sunday. Once again, Megan almost didn't go. But when she did show up, her and Bobby chatted for hours about Jimmy Buffet and Dave Matthews Band concerts, The Office vs. Parks & Recreation, and which of Kanye's summer albums was best. As he was getting ready to leave, Bobby was super nervous to ask Megan for her number. But with some convincing, he asked and she gave it to him. They texted all the way home and realized they only lived a couple of blocks away from each other in D.C. and decided to meet at Wonderland Ballroom for drinks (Bobby thinks this is their first date, Megan does not). They went to dinner the next night. And the next night. And continued seeing each other even after Megan moved to Baltimore for grad school. Numerous trips, concerts, a World Series run and other sporting events later, they found themselves living in the Blanco's basement for seven(!!) months during COVID. If that didn't send her running for the hills, nothing would. Bobby knew she was the one. In the summer of 2021, he picked out a ring in Rehoboth Beach (one of their favorite vacation spots). He knew it was the perfect one when he was looking at it and Megan's favorite song ("Everybody Wants to Rule the World" by Tears for Fears) came on the radio at the store. He asked her parents and siblings for their blessings. Bobby's friends Mike Foster and Ian Combs flew in for the proposal in October. He asked, "Will you marry me?" She asked, "Is this a bit?" And then finally after a "Yes" and surprise celebrations with friends and family, we're ready to get married!
