Question

Do I need a passport to travel to Costa Rica?

Answer

Question

Where can I get a COVID-19 test in Costa Rica before flying home?

Answer

The easiest option is to do an online observation through Azova. Only certain tests are verified, so please make sure to check their website before purchasing your at-home test. Additionally, you should have multiple tests with you just in case one is faulty. They are available 24/7 for appointments, and this was a super-easy way to get tested. Link: https://www.azova.com/travelvideo/ Both San José and Liberia airports offer rapid tests. Keep in mind, that while an airport test is the cheapest option ($65) you will have to get to the airport 4 hours before your departure time. There is also a testing option in Santa Teresa (rapid tests cost $80). Question

I am trying to book a domestic flight through Sansa airlines and the website says there are no flights available for the time period.

Answer

Flights are released a few in advance. Currently (as of 1/6/2021) domestic flights for May have not been released. You can try looking at an earlier date to see the typical flight schedule. Please note that there are more flights from San José to Tambor than from Liberia to Tambor.

Question

What is considered a good price for flights?

Answer

**From NYC area only** Prices can greatly vary depending on the airline. The best prices tend to be on Jetblue, American Airlines, and United. For direct nonstop flights, a reasonable price is about $300 roundtrip. We have been able to find flights for as cheap as $250 roundtrip. When you get above the $350 range, that is getting on the pricier side. Unfortunately, finding direct flights to Costa Rica with standard airlines at a reasonable price has become challenging. This never used to be the case, and we apologize for this inconvenience. Please note that airlines like Avianca and Copa, while not tech-savvy and may require check-in at the airport, are completely fine to take.

Question

What shoes are appropriate to wear?

Answer

The wedding ceremony and reception will be taking place on a sandy beach. Wear whatever shoes you are comfortable in or no shoes at all!

Question

What is the weather like in Costa Rica in May?

Answer

During the day, the temperature is in the 80s and will drop to the 70s at night. May is the start of the green season, so some rain showers are possible.

Question

Do I need a car to get around Santa Teresa?

Answer

If you will be staying near the wedding venue, then you do not need a car. Most restaurants and shops are within walking distance. If you would still like a vehicle for getting around and exploring, you can rent a car or an ATV. We will be sending out more information regarding within-town transportation closer to our wedding date.

Question

When should I book my hotel?

Answer

Our wedding planner suggested booking around December. However, if that is not feasible for you can absolutely wait a bit to book. May is considered the low season in Santa Teresa, so there will definitely be places available. Please keep in mind that we have a hotel block at our wedding venue and that if you want to stay near the venue, booking early is recommended.
