After life took us down a few unexpected paths, fate ~ and our friend Melissa ~ stepped in during the middle of Covid. At the time, Jen was living on Lake Nipmuc in Mendon with her dog Chance, while Lee was over on Lake Manchaug in Douglas with his dog Larry; both enjoying the lake-life dream. One day out of nowhere, Melissa said, “I don’t know why I never thought to introduce you two.” Her reasoning was simple enough: they both lived on lakes, loved their dogs, had similar personalities, and were the kind of people who would do anything for the people they love. So on June 23, 2020, Melissa planned a casual day at Lee’s house; boating, grilling, friends, and a day on the lake. What nobody expected was how quickly everything would just feel… easy. There was tubing, boat rides, laughs, endless joking about whose lake was better (Lee still claims Manchaug wins), and two dogs who quickly became best friends, despite Larry being completely insane and Chance acting like the cranky old man of the group. Somewhere between sandbar days, Sunday mornings on the lake, and Fourth of July fireworks, we both just knew. By the Fourth of July, we were officially together, and from that point on we split our time between both lakes, our friends, our families, and the life we were building together. Knowing we wanted a future together early on, we decided not to wait to start trying for a family. In 2022, our daughter Lacie came along and completely changed our world in the best possible way, bringing nonstop laughter, chaos, and more love than we ever imagined. Now, we’re building our forever home on Lake Manchaug; the place that holds so many of our memories, and while the house itself may still take a little time, we knew we didn’t want to wait any longer to officially become the Letourneau family together. That’s why having our ceremony on the sandbar means so much to us. The lake has been there for every chapter of our story: where we met, where we fell in love, where we became a family, and where we’re building our future. We’re beginning this next chapter with an intimate lakeside ceremony surrounded by immediate family and friends. Once our future home is complete, we look forward to celebrating with all of you there as well.
By the time we got engaged, we already had Lacie, a house build planned, and a whole life together, so the actual proposal felt less about “if” and more about “finally.” After a lot of convincing from Jen (because Lee openly admits he would have had absolutely no idea how to pick a ring on his own), we designed the ring together on New Year’s Eve. Jen picked the style of her dreams, Lee handled the rest, and somehow managed to keep the timing of the proposal a surprise. Or at least… he tried. Before a family trip to New Hampshire to visit the Ice Castles during Lacie’s Frozen era, Lee secretly picked up the ring while Jen was getting her nails done and Lacie was at Grammy’s house. Everything was going according to plan until they picked Lacie up and drove away. Out of nowhere, Lacie blurts out: “Daddy, can I see the ring?!” Instant panic. “What ring?” Lee asked. “MOMMY’S PRINCESS RING!” At that point, Lee realized the surprise was officially over. So without even pulling the car over, he handed Jen the ring box right there in the passenger seat. And of course, she said yes.
