Space is limited, and we're trying to make sure as many of our loved ones as possible can celebrate with us. Unless it's stated on your invitation, we ask that you come solo.
While we love all of the little ones who have come into our family and friends' lives, this will be an adults-only event.
The attire is semi-formal, so tuxes and gowns are welcome, and so are suits and cocktail dresses.
Renting a car at Denver International Airport is the best option to get to Winter Park Resort. The drive is about 1.5 hours. To get to Union Station in downtown Denver, take a rideshare or the RTD A-Line: https://www.rtd-denver.com/fastracks/a-line The Amtrak California Zephyr Train goes from Union Station to Fraser and back once a day: https://www.amtrak.com/routes/california-zephyr-train.html Home James offers shuttle service between the airport and Winter Park Resort. We recommend calling to book your shuttle ride: https://www.ridehj.com/
If you plan to explore outside of Winter Park Resort, a rental car will be the best, most flexible option. Please be mindful that rideshares do not operate in Winter Park. The Lift offers local bus routes in the Winter Park/Fraser area, including between the Amtrak Train Station and Winter Park Resort: https://www.theliftwp.com/ There are some rental cars available in Granby, 20-30 minutes north of Winter Park, if you choose to take a train or shuttle from the airport: https://www.avscars.com/grand-county-colorado/winter-park/
In short, no. We highly recommend staying at Winter Park Resort. We have special rates for our guests to stay at Zephyr Mountain Lodge, Vintage Hotel, Parry Peak Lofts and Iron Horse Resort. All of these properties are within walking distance to the wedding venue. For anyone staying offsite, there is plenty of parking available. We do not recommend staying outside of Winter Park Resort unless you have a car, since transportation options are extremely limited. To shorten the walk from the Vintage Hotel, guests can hop on the free Cabriolet ride (open air gondolas) just steps outside of the hotel's doors. The Cabriolet will drop you off in the main village. Shuttles will drop you off back at the hotel at the end of the wedding night.
The Gondola located just across from the Zephyr Mountain Lodge will take you up Mary Jane Mountain to 11,200 feet. The Gondola will depart at 4:15 p.m. This is the only way to get to our ceremony and reception site, and you will miss our ceremony if you do not arrive on time! You do not need to purchase a ticket for The Gondola. Buses will take guests down at the end of the night. A bus will be available at 8:15 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. should you need to leave early. You are not able to return to the wedding once you head down.
The ceremony will take place outside at the top of Mary Jane Mountain surrounded by incredible views of the Continental Divide. For cocktail hour, you're welcome to head inside to grab a drink and relax at the bar or snap some gorgeous photos outside while light bites are passed around. We'll move inside for the reception. Keep in mind that it can get much cooler at higher elevations! September tends to be dry, but there's always a chance for an afternoon storm in the mountains. We do have back-up options if weather becomes a concern.
High altitude can impact people in different ways. Many people aren't affected by it at all, while some may experience altitude sickness. Our wedding venue is located more than two miles above sea level. We want our guests to have an absolute blast, but don't forget to drink plenty of water and know that you'll most likely feel the effects of alcohol more easily. If you're able, it's great to head to town a day or two early so that your body can adjust to the change!
