It all started on the first day of 7th grade science class when Amberly kicked Blake in the shin (whether it was on accident or not is up for debate). Regardless, it worked! Because from that point, we became each other's best friends. We would stay up way too late getting to know each other over text and Oovoo (Facetime for Samsung users). We shared a lot of hobbies and values and got closer to each other through competing in sports, exploring nature, and most importantly, growing in our faith. Sophomore year of high school (2015-2016) came around and we became official and have been inseparable since! Being together at such a young age has allowed us to experience a lot of big life milestones together through the years. We graduated from Plainfield East high school in 2018 and Amberly went on to have a successful softball career at NIU while Blake pursued becoming a firefighter/paramedic. While not always easy being far apart for four years, it only grew our relationship stronger. We're each other's favorite travel buddies and have been blessed to go on so many amazing trips together. After 7 years, right before a family vacation to Puerto Rico, we went out on what Amberly thought was going to be just a relaxing day of frisbee golfing. On hole 8 (Blake's lucky #), Blake popped the question and as you can see in the video, Amberly was in complete shock. BAM! WE GOT ENGAGED 05/21/2023! In the years since, Amberly achieved her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy at Rush University and Blake has had a great start to his career working for Bolingbrook Fire Department for the past three years. We have been fortunate enough to live with our parents up until now, but are excited to soon move into our own place where we can continue to flourish as a couple. Nowadays, we enjoy cooking homemade meals, fishing/golfing, road tripping/vacationing, staying physically active, and spending quality time with our close friends and family. We are so excited to take this next step and we can't wait to see where the next few chapters of our lives will take us!
