Question

What time should we arrive?

Answer

The ceremony will begin at 4p. Please allow yourself enough time to go up the ski lift to the ceremony site. The reception will begin at 6p but there will be appetizers and cocktails beginning at Mountain Flowers Lodge at 5p.

Is the wedding outside?

Answer

Yes, the ceremony will be held outside. Please note this when picking out shoes to wear! The ceremony area is grass and cobblestone. There will be a ski lift up to the ceremony site, as well. The reception is indoors.

Can we take pictures during the ceremony?

Answer

We are asking all guests to refrain from taking photos or videos during the ceremony. We want you to be present and enjoy the view from the Top of Bay Mountain. We have hired professional photographers to capture our special day and when we look back at our photos we would love to see your smiling faces not blocked by phones!

What is the dress code?

Answer

We are asking guests to wear cocktail attire (or more formal, if you wish!) to the ceremony and rehearsal. Please no blue jeans or casual clothes! It will be mid-September in northern Michigan -- please consider the weather may be quite cool especially in the evening.

Where should I stay?

Answer

The Homestead offers several hotels to stay at on site. This means you can walk to and from the ceremony/reception from your hotel or only have to drive a short distance. Additionally, there is a discount rate for staying at the Homestead. Please visit the Hotel Info tab to see instructions and more info. If you do not want to stay at the Homestead, there are several Airbnbs or other hotels in the area.

Parking and Transportation

Answer

If you are staying at The Homestead both venues are on-site and more than likely within walking distance from your hotel. If you are staying at Fiddler's Pond, you will be staying right next to Mountain Flower's Lodge and where we go up to the Top of Bay Mountain. There will be semi-limited parking and we suggest, if possible, to either walk to the venues or carpool to save room for guests driving in. There will not be transportation provided from the hotels to the venues nor from off-site hotels to the venues.

Are there any pet friendly rooms at The Homestead?

Yes! Fiddler's Pond at The Homestead offers pet friendly rooms.

Will the frogs be attending the wedding?

Answer

Sadly, the frogs will not be attending the wedding but we will have some photos of them! You can also check out our registry if you wish to give a gift to the frogs.
