Our Story

In the spring of 2021, Blaire drove to Fort Custer Recreation Area to walk her dog when she saw the "Now Hiring" sign at the front of the park. On a whim she decided to apply as she thought it would "look good on her resume." (She actually wanted to quit in the first few weeks!) Thankfully, she decided to stick it out. Little did she know, she signed up for the best summer job anyone could ever ask for. It was at Fort Custer where she met some amazing friends, and, of course, Adam! Adam had been working at the park for a few years prior, but 2021 would be his first full season as a commissioned Park Officer. Adam, who notoriously liked to keep to himself and preferred to simply observe the chaos, was somehow paired with up with Blaire on the Tuesday night midnight shift. He didn't seem to mind her many questions about birds, being a park officer, or Dogman (the legendary Fort Custer cryptid). They became acquaintances but their friendship didn't start until later in the 2022 season when Adam struck a deal with Blaire. Adam and his friend wanted to have access to Gull Lake for ice fishing. Blaire, who had wanted to learn more about hunting and fishing, saw this as her chance to do so. She told them they could have access to the lake but only if they agreed to take her with them. The deal was made and Adam and Blaire became closer friends. Soon Adam found himself being asked about waterfowl hunting and other fishing opportunities. That seemed to seal the deal for Adam as he is an avid outdoorsman and hunting, fishing, and trapping is his lifestyle. Adam and Blaire have been together since November 2022 and were engaged in August of 2025. They have shared many wonderful memories of camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, and exploring the Upper Peninsula.
