We met just after starting our undergraduate degrees at Baylor University in 2018 on the club waterpolo team. Since we both had grown up in California, we had an instant connection and grew together our first semester of college as teammates. We started dating very shortly after starting our second semester of freshman year after attending the Alpha Delta Pi sorority formal together. While attending Baylor, we enjoyed so many fun memories together, such as being STEM students, attending football games, and making the most of Baylor traditions. We loved every second of our Baylor love story.
I was hurriedly packing for a weekend trip to visit one of my college friends, Savannah, in Dallas, Texas. Dylan excitedly stated, “I think I will go to Key West this weekend." I was a little irritated because I wanted to go to Key West as well. I left the next morning for Dallas with no idea what the weekend would actually entail. On Friday, Savannah and I had planned to go to the Dallas Arboretum with Savannah’s sister-in-law, Sasha, to walk around the gardens and take some photos. After a small rain scare and a quick target run for umbrellas, Savannah, Sasha, and I arrived at the Dallas Arboretum to soft, cloudy skies and began to walk the gardens. I had no idea what was actually happening, and managed to stop for several photos and walk in every which way away from a patiently waiting Dylan. Savannah felt like she was herding a cat and finally led me into a small private garden within the Arboretum. I was stunned to see Dylan on one knee, not in Key West. Dylan asked me to marry him; I said yes, and a weekend of engagement fun ensued.
