Britesmith is our favorite local brewery with good beer and even better food! They have both indoor and outdoor spaces, and serve brunch on Sundays starting at 11am. They don't take reservations and can get busy, so get there early! We especially love their smash burger, fried chicken sandwich, and tots & fries, of course! Fun fact: this is where April reverse-proposed to Jamie (with help from the live band).
Share is an upscale casual dinner restaurant featuring - you guessed it - shared plates! They also serve signature cocktails & wine, and have a nice bar area. If you go, DO NOT MISS the ooey gooey butter cake... it's one of the best desserts of all time. Call ahead to get on the waitlist!
Very casual restaurant & bar serving really great pizza and wings! Ask for the baked wings - we like a mix of Buffalo and BBQ. Blue cheese is always the answer. Never ranch. Try dipping your pizza in blue cheese, too! You MUST have wings while you are in Buffalo, and Sorrentino's is a Wolff family favorite. This is the first place Jamie took April, straight from the airport, on her first trip to Buffalo! We always get the antipasto salad, pizza, and baked wings. Never fails.
Sweet Jenny's is an old school, locally owned and family-run ice cream & chocolate shop right off Main St. Everything is made in the same building as their retail shop, inside the 1811 Williamsville Mill. If you've never had sponge candy, it's a Buffalo delicacy and a must try! Sweet Jenny's even has a comic section upstairs with new and vintage comics, toys, collectibles, and life size super hero statues. Release your inner child at this sweet, charming shoppe!
800 Maple is our favorite brunch spot (Saturdays ONLY, open at 10am, make reservations or try your luck in the bar area). Don't miss out on their breakfast pizza and Bloody Marys. Also a great spot for happy hour or dinner - sit in the bar area, grab a drink, flatbread pizza and some apps to share (we love the Brussels sprouts). Dressy casual, exceptional service.
If you're looking for a local fine dining experience, Giancarlo's is our go-to spot. Incredible drinks, food, and desserts - you can't go wrong here! We love the steaks, pastas, espresso martinis, and zeppole (Italian fried donuts). Make a reservation in advance (or sit at the bar, which is our move). Recommended for 18+
A short 30-minute drive from Buffalo, Niagara Falls is a natural wonder to behold! It is beautifully picturesque and breathtaking. You can also ride on the Maid of the Mist boat to get close to the falls (note: you will get soaked, but it's very fun!), enjoy a cave tour, and even walk or drive over the Rainbow Bridge to enjoy the views from the Canadian side (you need your passport if you're going into Canada). The view from both sides is gorgeous, and each offers a different perspective. Highly recommend if you've never been, if only for a quick visit and couple of social media worthy snaps!
Canalside is Buffalo's waterfront destination with shops, restaurants, and various activities. Hang for a drink on the water, take a cruise on Lake Erie, or kayak/waterbike your heart out. Canalside is also home to America’s largest inland Naval park, offering tours of battleships from WW2. You can also just take a stroll with a view and stop for a bite to eat! Southern Tier Brewing Co. is a short walk from Canalside, and offers over 30 beers on tap and a 36.5 foot flatscreen TV to watch sports (that's a 438 inch TV). As no surprise to anyone, Jamie loves it here.
If you're into architecture, take a tour of this historic house museum designed by renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The six-building Martin House complex (1903-1906) is considered to be the architect’s quintessential Prairie house and one of the great achievements of his career.
Some of our favorite downtown Buffalo spots! *House of Charm: Super cute cocktail lounge that serves food (even late-night). April loves the pink and aesthetic inside! Live music sometimes. https://houseofcharm716.com/ *Lucky Day: Whiskey bar & restaurant. Wide selection of "the brown water" with plenty of cocktails and wine to choose from, too. Pick your poison! A classy, cool, sort of speakeasy vibe. http://www.luckydaywhiskeybar.com/ *Toutant: Elevated Southern-inspired restaurant serving dinner & Sunday brunch. We had April's birthday dinner here and every dish, cocktail and dessert was top-notch. Cozy, rustic ambiance with great service (southern hospitality, if you will). https://www.toutantbuffalo.com/
