Ashley and Christian were slated to attend a wedding in Washington DC on June 25, 2016 (Ashley’s parents’ wedding anniversary!!). Ashley’s Matron of Honor, Rocky’s, older sister Sam was marrying one of Christian’s friends from VA Tech. We both had known this couple for years and yet we had never crossed paths. Sam/Matt/Rocky (there is still debate as to who had the initial idea) decided that they were going to set them up and told them both not to bring dates. Prior to meeting, Rocky told Ashley that she would be sitting next to “their friend Biscuit”...intentionally spelled incorrectly because that is how it was sent to Ashley initially...and that he was an engineer in the military. It is important to note that Rocky had tried to set Ashley up a couple of times before and it was NOT successful.. at all.. so she was dubious of a guy named “biscuit”. As soon as Christian leaned over to check his place card at the dinner table and smiled at her, she took a big sigh of relief! Score! After awkwardly being told he was neither an engineer nor in the military, they talked and danced all night. In fact, they have talked EVERY DAY since! Ashley moved to Colorado to start medical school one month after they met and she finally convinced Christian to come visit that September, when they officially started dating, and they have enjoyed countless adventures from the Rocky Mountains to Bermuda ever since! On March 2, 2019, Ashley was on a 48 hour get-a-way in between on-call weeks at the hospital with her Mom at Disney World. She thought they were headed to their favorite restaurant at The Grand Floridian but instead were met in the lobby by a tuxedoed waiter upon arrival who claimed her Dad had sent him. He took her up to a balcony overlooking the lagoon, with Cinderella’s castle in the background, where Christian was waiting to propose! Right after he did, the Happily Ever After fireworks started over Magic Kingdom! It. Was. Absolutely. Perfect!!!!
