The first time I remember seeing Binson, he was the new kid that had just landed from Florida. He was standing around the church auditorium surrounded by a flock of people. I walked past him and his entourage thinking, “I know I’ll never be friends with that guy” and here we are 11 years later. He’s going to say that he made the first move, but I definitely texted him first. If you know anything about me, I was always that shy, quiet girl that waited for people to come talk to me. Why I randomly decided to text Binson out of the blue I will never understand, but I soon learned that impulsive text “hello” ended up being the best decision of my life. We began texting each other more, texting turned into late night oovoo calls, and before I knew it, we were talking 24/7. That song “Crush” by David Archuleta was pretty popular then, and I was convinced that it was the story of my life. I didn’t think he saw me that way at all until he randomly would say the corniest pick-up lines and I started to think, hm maybe he does like me. Fast forward a couple of months to November 11, 2011. I had just come home from a dance performance, it was 11:11 PM, and I get a text from Binson. It was the sweetest, longest paragraph of him asking me to be his girlfriend. (HMU if you want to see the text). From being in the same Sunday school classes, to going to prom, to going to college across the country from each other, we’ve had our fair share of ups and downs, but that’s only made our relationship grow stronger. Binson truly is my better half; he pushes me to be the best version of myself and believes in me even when I don’t believe in myself. I’m so blessed to have found my soulmate in my first love. I still remember Binson telling me that he was dating to find his wife, and maybe that was one of his corny pick-up lines, but I’m glad that 15-year-old Binson picked me to start the rest of his life with. Here’s to a lifetime of adventure, corny jokes, and lots of love with my best friend.
For those of you that don’t know, Jency and I have been together for 10+ years now! She is going to say, she made the first move, but let’s be real, she is one of the quietest girls during a first meet. Even when I lived in Florida, she would text me here and there. From the start, I knew she was a sweet girl that was very caring and had a great personality. She checked off everything I was looking for in a girl so fast! After I moved to Houston, we started talking more often, and then on 11/11/11, I asked her to be my girlfriend. Ever since then, she’s been my rock and best friend. From knowing each other from church, going to prom, and having a long-distance relationship all throughout college, I believe our love got stronger through every phase of life. She has always made me view life with a positive mindset and has been my number one supporter throughout any decision. She makes me a better person in life. Whenever I have a bad day, all I need to do is talk to her for a quick minute, and suddenly, my days not so bad. She really is my better half! I’m forever grateful for her and can’t wait to start living life with her as my WIFE.
