Flight
All guests are encouraged to fly into either Naples Airport (NAP) or Rome Airport (FCO). Upon landing in Italy, if you plan to go straight to the wedding or to explore the Amalfi Coast first, we recommend flying into Naples Airport as the distance to Sorrento from here is much faster than Rome (1 hour travel time vs 3 hours). If you would like to explore Rome prior to the wedding, then flying into Rome is best. You can then travel from Rome to Sorrento by train or by car.
Flight
Flying into Naples is the fastest way to Sorrento. Once you land, you can take a 1-hour car ride straight to Sorrento!
Travel Note
Our #1 recommendation for traveling from Naples to Sorrento. We recommend taking a Taxi/Car service from the Naples Airport (NAP) to your hotel in Sorrento as this is quickest and easiest. The car ride from NAP to Sorrento is around 1 hour. Prices vary, but typical cost is €100 total for 2 people. Your hotel/airBnB can assist in booking your car service, or you can book independently. If you choose to book independently, we recommend the below company as we have used them in the past. Make sure to book in advance. https://www.naplesairporttransfers-italy.com/transfers-from-naples-airport-to-sorrento?from=108&to=76
Train
A more cost-effective option to travel from NAP to Sorrento is by train (the Campania Express). However, this is not our first recommendation as the travel time is longer (2 hours) and the ride is not as comfortable. Train: Campania Express via Napoli Centrale/Napoli Garibaldi (~ 2hrs) CAUTION: Keep your belongings close as pickpocketing can happen. Disclaimer: The Campania Express is similar to a subway train, but is outdoors and has no air conditioning Directions: 1. Arrive at Naples-Capodichino International Airport (NAP) 2. Take Taxi (around €18) or AliBus (€5) to Naples train station - Napoli Centrale/Napoli Garibaldi (~ 15-20 min) - Bus runs every 10-15 minutes 3. Arrive at Napoli Centrale/Napoli Garibaldi Train station 4. Take escalators to lower level (Garibaldi) and look for signs directing you towards Campania Express (at the very end of the hall) 5. Buy a ticket to Sorrento at the ticket window and ask an attendant for the track # 6. Sorrento is the last stop The Sorrento train station is located in the center of town. Most hotels are within walking distance depending on where you stay. Taxis are available as well.
Flight
Flying into Rome is another option! If you want to explore Rome before the wedding, please fly into Rome. If you plan to fly into Rome but go straight to Sorrento, directions are below.
Flight
To travel from Rome to Sorrento, we recommend taking a train from Rome (Roma Termini Train Station) to Naples (Napoli Centrale Train Station) (1hr 10 min), and then a car from Naples to Sorrento (1 hr). To get to the Roma Termini Train Station after you land, you can either take a 30 min train ride on the Leonardo Express train (a train WITHIN the Rome Airport), or a Taxi to Roma Termini Train Station. From there you will take a high-speed train from Roma Termini Train Station to Naples Train Station (1 hr 10 min train) to then get you to Sorrento (1 hr car). Arrive to FCO Airport → Leonardo Express Train → Roma Termini Train Station → Napoli Centrale Train Station → Taxi to Sorrento (or train, but taxi is preferred rout) The total trip is around 3 hours Detailed Directions - Rome FCO to Naples by train: 1. Arrive at Rome FCO Airport 2. After baggage claim, walk through the nearby exit within FCO Airport to find the Leonardo Express train 3. Follow the signs for Train (This will require going down escalators then back up again but keep following the signs) 4. Once on Leonardo Express train terminal level (you're still in the airport), you can purchase train tickets to Roma Termini (Rome train station) (Travel time from FCO to Roma termini ~30 min) 5. Arrive at Roma termini and purchase tickets to Napoli Centrale Train Station (Roma termini to Napoli Centrale travel time ~1hr 10min) 6. Arrive at Napoli Centrale then take a car service (our recommendation, about 1 hr) or the Campania Express train (subway like train, about 1.5hr) to Sorrento
Travel Note
After landing, we recommend taxiing to your accommodations in Rome as this is easiest. You can also take the Leonardo Express train in FCO Airport to Roma Termini (Rome train station) which will drop you off in the center city of Rome. To get to Sorrento after you are done exploring Rome, you can either take a car to Sorrento (~3 hours) or train to Napoli Centrale Train Station in Naples to get you to Sorrento. We recommend the high-speed train to Napoli Centrale Train Station. Directions for Train: 1. Arrive at Roma Termini (Rome train station) and purchase tickets to Napoli Centrale train station (Train from Roma termini to Napoli Centrale is ~1hr 10min) 2. Arrive at Napoli Centrale then take a car service (1st recommendation, about 1 hr drive) or the Campania Express train (subway like train, about 1.5 hour train) to Sorrento
