Come celebrate with us on October 9, 2022!

In a little town in Vinton, Iowa there lies a sprawling campus that houses the National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) North Central Region campus, where our heroes met. Hannah had started her second year as a part of the Maple Unit, changing roles from a Team Leader in the field to a Maple Unit Support Team Leader. Bill was starting his first year as a Team Leader. They developed a strong working relationship over the course of 6 months, which developed into something more during their summer break. They decided to visit Bill's cousins in Chicago, kayak and camp in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and finish off their grand adventure by enjoying a traveling music festival put on by Mumford & Sons in Waverly, IA. Their relationship continued to grow over the course of their service year, culminating in Bill asking Hannah to move with him to Upstate (actual Upstate) New York, which she agreed to do. Flash forward 5 years, two moves (one to Mankato, MN where Bill attended grad school and the next to Denver, CO where Hannah became an esthetician) later: Bill proposes to Hannah in the Denver Botanic Gardens, one of Hannah's favorite places in Denver and where they visited on their third anniversary trip to visit the city they knew then they might move to! They completed the recreation of their first Denver date 2 years prior at their favorite restaurant, Rioja. Subtle differences did include the invitation of Hannah's parents, two of whom hid in the gardens and managed to capture the proposal before revealing their presence to Hannah. COVID-19 would impact the couple's plan to throw a celebration of their union, but ultimately did not keep the pair from getting married on October 2, 2020 in a small, private ceremony at the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, with Hannah's 3 parents, Bill's brother, and Bill's aunt and uncle in loco parentis in attendance. We look forward to celebrating with all of you this Fall!
