January 8th - it was fate. While we both were very far from each other at the time, I was in Atlanta working my dream job when I matched with my dream girl on the Salams App. Fatima had resided in Toledo, Ohio and was on the search for love as well. While the app might have been the reason we were even possible, God was the one that initially made everything real and made this perfect match happen. A match on the Salams App, turned into a first Facetime date a week later teaching Bilal how to make a simple omelet virtually; which at 27 years old should have been a red flag to majority of women, Fatima had a heart of gold that always seemed to look past anything that could spark doubt or negativity. An extremely open-minded individual that always saw the best in everyone which was another reason I was falling madly in love with her. We continued facetiming for weeks, I sang songs to her because she made me believe I was the best singer in the world, knowing how bad I actually was. With each call, each text, and each week that passed by, we grew closer until May of 2022 when we decided it was time to meet. I flew to Detroit, MI out of all places, to finally meet the love of my life. As I grabbed my carry on and headed to the airport pick-up, I felt like my heart was in my throat, and I was walking out to what felt like a Game 7 of the NBA Finals. As I was frantically searching like a lost dog in the park looking for his owner, I laid eyes on the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. As we ran towards each other, I felt time had slowed down, like a corny rom-com you can't help but laugh at while thinking that could never be you.... well, it was me... and with that - the rest was history. In December of that year we got engaged and not too long after in August of 2023 we did our Nikkah (Islamic Marriage) in Toledo with both of our families in attendance. It was like a flawless blend of two families who felt like they have known each other for all of their lives; and now it is time to include ALL of our loved ones in on that same feeling on our big day in Dearborn, MI. It wouldn't be a true love story without the people who have supported us all of our lives to get us to this point. A perfect ending to a new beginning. God Bless / Alhamdulillah.
