Travel Note

Passport and ETIAS

Poland follows Schengen area rules. This means your passport must have: - A ‘date of issue’ less than 10 years before the date you arrive – if you renewed your passport before 1 October 2018, it may have a date of issue that is more than 10 years ago - An ‘expiry date’ at least 3 months AFTER the day you plan to leave the Schengen area. (Don't be like Grace and get turned away at the gate only to be unceremoniously spat out into Stansted baggage claim...) Find out more at gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/poland/entry-requirements ALSO. Thanks to some excellent decision making by the UK in 2016 from mid-2025, UK citizens will need an ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) to travel to Poland. As soon as we know more, we'll let you know.

Getting around

Gdańsk is very easy to get around. Everything is within a 30 minute walk but if you require public transport there are plenty of buses and trams, and Uber operates in the city. Google Maps is the best way to find your way around. Alternatively the app JAKDOJADE [Gdańsk's Citymapper] allows you to plan journeys and buy tickets. Warning: it's not the easiest to use for an out-of-towner...
