OUR STORY

My favourite story of all

It was the end of Jan going into Feb 2016 when we met. Although we hadn’t chatted much, I definitely noticed Bianca as we were going through “hell week” at University. The first thing that I heard Bianca say was in reaction to “Who would be the one person from history that you’d like to meet?” and she said “Jesus Christ”… I turned around (as she was sitting behind me) and I was like holllllly words, that’s a very good answer, but at the same time I was like “wow, she is really pretty” (I still remember she was sitting there in her little white shirt and blue pants and her big poofy hair all over the place.) Later that same week, I was helping her when she was feeling unwell after one of the runs and we started chatting. This is where our friendship started. By the end of Feb/start of March we went on our first date. I think Bianca asked me on the date (she asked me out to coffee). We went to a little place, that doesn’t exist anymore, in Rondebosch. We had coffee and after that we started spending A LOT of time together where it was late afternoons after varsity. We would hangout and chat, and eventually we started to realise that there was something more than just friendship here. In May 2016 after putting off asking her to be my girlfriend because I couldn't find the perfect way to do it - on the 7th of May I took her to the lighthouse on Woodbridge Island. We went to the little beach there and as we sat on the stairs, I asked her to be my girlfriend at sunset. I also told her that I was head over hills in love with her. After being single for 3 years before that, I had been waiting for The One but was so surprised that meeting someone in the EMS field was where I was going to My One. From here we faced so many big and small moments from Bianca going back to medicine, moving in together during Covid (OUR BEST TIME), getting our fur-child Mona, losing my mom unexpectedly and now learning what a long distance relationship is like as I live in Dubai and Bianca is back in South Africa. These moments have shaped us as individuals and as a couple, making our bond even more steadfast and loving. In December 2022 when Bianca came to Dubai I asked her to be my wife (spoiler - she said yes), and we have been planning our wedding since. This day marks 9 years of doing life together and creating this family. Now let's make it official!

WHAT THIS DAY MEANS TO US

07/05/2025

This day marks the beginning of our new life together… Nick & I have had so many incredible moments over the last 9 years together, but as life goes we have also been faced with heartbreaking difficulties and challenges that we have had to overcome. Through each moment, be it the challenges or the many laughs, successes and wins; we have been able to create a relationship that is loving, supportive and strong. Because our wedding day marks the start of a new chapter in our life, we have decided on a very special date. The 7th of May 2016 was the day Nick asked me to be his girlfriend. We sat alone on the steps at Milnerton beach watching the sunset, when he told me he loved me. I of course said it back! We decided to set the date for the same day in 2025 as the perfect way to start this new chapter. This time with all of our nearest and dearest to witness the moment! This day is a celebration of more than just us, but rather bringing our family together. It's a celebration of inviting you to join in on the beginning of this new journey with us. It's a public declaration of our love and God's love for us in bringing us together. "So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate." - Matthew 19:6
