A classic and one of the most famous museums in the world. Matthew makes a point to go here every time he’s in Florence. Try to go early in the morning when they open or at the end of the day to avoid massive crowds. A must see for anyone into visual art.
World-famous for the David and more Michelangelo sculptures – this too is not to be missed for art and art history fans. If you’re going here, there’s a fantastic sandwich place nearby called Sandwhichic. Pair that with the David and you’re off to a great afternoon!
Once home to the royal Medici family, here you can find great renaissance art by many of the masters, and the palace itself is worth the visit. Don't forget to walk through the Boboli gardens for a peaceful atmosphere and beautiful views.
A museum of Italian Renaissance Sculpture with works by Michelangelo and Donatello—another of Matthew's favorites!
An underrated and not overrun by tourists. Earlier this year, Matthew and Bianca saw a French Impressionism exhibition there that moved them to tears! There’s also an incredible rooftop where you can have a cappuccino and look right at the duomo.
For fans of film and opera, this little museum right in the heart of Florence is pretty spectacular as they have costumes and set designs and relics from all of maestro Franco Zeffirelli’s productions ranging from his movies Romeo and Juliet to Hamlet and all of his epic stage productions. They also have a concert hall where they perform classical music. For lunch, go to La Cantineta di Verrazzan nearby. Tell Laura at the cash register why you’re in Florence—she’s known Bianca since she was a little girl!
Authentic, classic Tuscan food at this local restaurant in the heart of Fiesole. A go-to for both locals and tourists. We recommend: Pappa al Pomodoro (Tuscan bread and tomato soup) Peposo (beef stew simmered in red wine and black pepper-- Vinandro is famous for this dish!)
Go here for elegant dishes created by artisans and an elevated experience, right in the heart of Fiesole.
Take a quick ride down on the 7 bus to get to this vibrant, cozy and delicious restaurant. We can't recommend any favorites because they change their menu daily!
This restaurant is only accessible by car, but if you have one or want to take a taxi it's totally worth it! You'll find super flavorful, classic Tuscan dishes at this local favorite. We recommend: Fettunta con pomodori (grilled, garlic infused bread topped with small tomatoes and olive oil) Spinaci saltati (sautéed spinich) Pappardelle alla lepre (pasta with bolognese made of hare)
A favorite in Bianca's family for decades! Not to mention, Matthew’s favorite restaurant in the world. The Spaghetti Carretierra is a MUST... but everything is amazing.
Bianca grew up eating "focaccia con Piselli" here with here with her grandmother. When you go, tell Laura at the cash register why you're there-- she's known Bianca since she was small!
Right across the street from Peggy's home, this is where we go for our morning coffee. Bianca and Matthew have written many drafts of their screenplays here looking out at the beautiful view.
