Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Black-tie optional. For men, they should wear a dark suit with a shirt and tie (if they do not wish to wear a tuxedo). Women should wear a floor-length gown, mid-length dress, knee-length cocktail dress, a pantsuit, or dressy separates. A note on the weather: Most of our invited guests are quite familiar with the summer heat of Charleston, South Carolina. As you may know, July in Charleston can be quite warm. While most of our wedding activities will take place after sunset, or indoors, our ceremony will take place in the evening on the William Aiken House grounds. Umbrellas, tenting, fans, and refreshments will be readily available for our guests. However, please dress accordingly and comfortably. The dress code has been relaxed to accommodate the warmer anticipated temperature. We want you to look and feel your best.

Question

Is parking available at the venue?

Answer

Yes! Well, somewhat. While the William Aiken House does not offer private event parking, the venue is situated adjacent to public parking in the Mary Street Garage. However, we do recommend that you utilize readily available Ubers/Lyfts, if you plan to enjoy our many cocktails and refreshments!

Question

Can I bring my kids?

Answer

While we adore all of the children in our lives, our wedding ceremony & reception will be an adults-only affair. We hope that our wedding will provide an opportunity for our guests to relax and take a night off from parenting duties - make it a date night!

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

We have booked a block of rooms at the Cambria Hotel in Mount Pleasant. Additional details regarding our hotel accommodations are included under the "Travel" tab of our wedding website. We recommend booking early, as July is a very popular month, and of course, the Fourth is a very popular holiday, in Charleston!

Question

Is the ceremony outdoors?

Answer

Yes! & no! The ceremony will take place on the grounds of the William Aiken House. Dinner will be held indoors, with dancing and merriment to take place under a covered sailcloth tent. The ceremony is on grass, so, stilettos are not recommended. Please also dress accordingly. Most of the wedding festivities will take place after sunset. Tenting, umbrellas, fans, and plenty refreshments will be provided.

Question

What time does the ceremony start?

Answer

The ceremony will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m.

Question

When and how should I RSVP?

Answer

Please RSVP no later than May 19, 2022, by returning your self-addressed reply card found in your invitation suite. Also, do not forget to make your dinner selections.

Question

May I bring a guest?

Answer

If your invitation specifically includes your name and "guest", you are welcome to bring a plus-one. Unfortunately, we have to limit our guest list due to venue restrictions, so please adhere to your invitation. If you have been given a plus-one, be sure to include your guest's dinner selections on the reply card.

Question

Do I need to wear a mask?

Answer

We are following CDC guidance, and are asking that all guests receive a COVID-19 vaccination. You will NOT have to present proof of vaccination or wear a mask during the wedding festivities. Please note that if you plan to Uber/Lyft, you will be required to wear a mask during transportation.

Question
