I remember the first time I saw Josh... We were sitting in a classroom during law school orientation. We would spend a majority of the next three years in that very same room. I remember tuning out the professor's monotone introduction, and scanning the room for any familiar faces. It was August of 2015, and I had just relocated to Charleston, South Carolina. I had graduated from the University of South Carolina the year before, and had spent a semester bartending before packing up and heading to the coast. Needless to say, there wasn't a face in the crowded room that looked familiar. I was seated in the back row (of course), so I had a great view of the back of everyone's head. As I peered down to the third row, I noticed a handsome guy laughing with his neighbor. "Gah, everyone knows someone already", I thought to myself. But as he turned to chat with his neighbor, I realized that his face looked familiar. No, I didn't recognize him, but I knew I had seen him somewhere. I assumed that we had crossed paths during undergrad. Now, I wouldn't officially meet Josh until next semester when our separate groups of friends merged into one. But that fleeting moment always stood out to me. Truthfully, I've never been accused of having an awesome memory. In fact, I often joke that I'm suffering from an undiagnosed case of selective amnesia. But, I always remembered recognizing a familiarity in Josh. Maybe it was fate. But, I certainty couldn't have known that I was seeing my future husband for the first time. That realization happened much later. We continued our friendship for several years, but there was always something about Josh that I couldn't ignore. There was always a flirtation, and a sense of ease and comfort when I was around him. Even as friends. When the time was right, for both of us, he asked me on a date. We've never looked back. - Bex
What did I think when I first met Rebecca Cobb? Outside of thinking that she was an absolute 10/10.... One of my favorite stories from the summer we officially met was when our friends, Corey Ingle and Bri Sabacinski, first met Becca. Becca and Bri lived in the same apartment complex, and one day, we ran into her at the community pool. We hung out for a few hours, and I still remember Bri saying, "Josh, Becca is hot! That's who you need to talk to." Did I like the idea? Of course. Did I think that would ever happen? Not really. I didn't think I could be that lucky. A joke that I always make to Becca, and our friends, is that I played the long-game during our relationship. For the next two+ years, Becca and I would hang out as friends. We enjoyed many casual dinners at our favorite Mexican restaurant, late-night study groups at the Barrister library, and of course puppy-dates at our apartment dog parks. After two long years, she finally let me take her on an official date. After that, she couldn't get enough of me! And, it's been a whirlwind since! We've been all over the world: watching sunsets in Santorini; spending all of our money in the Greenbriar casino; eating gumbo and beignets in New Orleans; watching Tiger win the Masters in Augusta; to Brittlebank Park, where I finally asked her to be my wife! And, thank goodness she said yes! Outside of Becca being the most kind-hearted, loving, and drop-dead gorgeous dog-mom ever, her and I have made the best memories. And, this is just the beginning. I cannot wait to make memories with her for a lifetime. I love you, Bex, and can't wait for July 2nd! #LFG - Josh
I've always been a fan of a good surprise. But, it takes a pretty keen person to actually pull one off. I'm a self-proclaimed sleuth & mystery fanatic. I attribute that to my many hours bingeing Law & Order, and my childhood love of Scooby-Doo. But, it's not just the 'surprise' element that makes me excited; it's problem-solving, and puzzles, and the idea of a treasure hunt (Nerdy, I know!)! So, when I would talk to my girlfriends about my ideal proposal, I would always say that I'd want a scavenger hunt! I had seen this play out first-hand when my dad surprised my mom with a scavenger hunt one Christmas morning, when I was a child. If I remember correctly, I think he surprised her with a extension onto her existing engagement ring- turning the single-stone ring into a three-stone stunner. It was so romantic. So, I guess it makes sense why my ideal proposal would involve some sort of scavenger hunt. And that's exactly what I got! On December 12, 2020, I was so surprised when Josh woke up early and told me that instead of a previously-planned date, I'd actually be participating in my own scavenger hunt. I was elated! (And to be honest, I knew what was coming.) Josh had arranged my sister to drive from Camden, South Carolina, and be my guide on my personal treasure hunt. Throughout the day, I was told to drive to locations throughout Charleston. Each location had a special meaning to us as a couple. Where we first met; Where we had our first kiss; And, of course, our favorite Mexican restaurant. At each location, I was greeted by friends with a "clue", leading me to the next spot. The final "clue" look me to Brittlebank Park, where I was greeted by my entire family. He proposed on the banks of the Ashley River as the sun was setting. It was a perfect day. We left downtown with the expectation that we were going to dinner, just the two of us. Instead, I was surprised with an engagement party with my friends & family. Like I said, perfect. - Bex
We are beyond thrilled and overcome with excitement to have our family and friends join us in Charleston this upcoming Fourth of July weekend! We cannot wait to share our day with you! - Bex & Josh
