FAQs

Question

Do I need a passport?

Answer

Make sure your passport is up to date! Applications and renewals can take 6-9 weeks.

Question

Is San Miguel de Allende safe?

Answer

Yes! We've been here three times and not once have we ever felt unsafe! Locals, including the ex-pat Americans who live there permanently, are very friendly and welcoming to tourists. But of course in any situation, we would ask that you use common sense as always when you are traveling, whether in the US or internationally. We also suggest planning day time flights to optimize safe travel to/from the airport.

Question

Can I bring my kids?

Answer

To allow all guests the ability to relax and really let loose, we have chosen to make our special weekend adults only.

Question

Can I bring a guest?

Answer

Our guest list has reached the capacity allowed at our venue. We ask guests that have not been cordially invited to celebrate virtually and enjoy a drink in our name at home instead!

Question

How long should I stay?

Answer

We know that time away from home and work is precious so we recommend making the most of your trip and staying as long as you can! With that being said, you can see most of San Miguel in 2-4 days in addition to our two-day celebration. It's not near a beach though so if you're craving some sand, Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, and Cabo, are all just a short flight away!

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

San Miguel in July can vary. The average high temperature during this time ranges from 75-88 degrees and can get as cool as 55 degrees. Potential for rain can be high so we suggest packing a light raincoat and your prayers for a dry celebration :)

Question

Do I need to rent a car?

Answer

We do not recommend renting a car. San Miguel is a relatively small, dense town with narrow cobblestone streets so please pack comfortable walking shoes! Make sure you are ALWAYS WATCHING WHERE YOU STEP as the cobblestones can be uneven and some streets are steep. There are also cabs everywhere and very cheap! If you take a cab while in the city, make sure you use a green or white one (these are official). Also make sure to agree on a rate to your destination before accepting the ride. Don't forget though! You will need to book a car to take you from the airport to San Miguel and back. That's the only important ride to be aware of during your time here.

Question

Things to be aware of?

Answer

As stated before, San Miguel is a very clean and safe city! But when in Mexico just be aware to only drink bottled or filtered water. Do not eat uncooked meat or fish. There are some nice sushi options in San Miguel, but just to be on the safe side of things we don't recommend this.

Question

Should I bring pesos?

Answer

We find it's much easier and faster to pay with pesos in San Miguel! The majority of places do accept credit cards though.

Question

Should I use Whatsapp?

Answer

Downloading WhatsApp on your phone can be very helpful! It is an international messaging app (similar to texting). All of the car companies, hotels and airbnbs will use this app to communicate with you about your upcoming stay and travel plans. It's extremely helpful and straightforward to use! Start to familiarize yourself with it now if it's new to you!
