This was taken in 2023, when we first met. Betty was considering a move to Seattle and this moment marked the beginning of a solid friendship—one that helped make the city feel a little more like home

We’ve always shared a love for travel, so when we realized we’d both be in Paris at the same time, meeting up in the city was a must!

Over the year, our friendship naturally grew. With so many mutual friends, we often found ourselves in the same circles.

It wasn’t until summer 2024 that Nana’s feelings started to sneak in. At an African music festival, he quietly realized Betty was "fun and cute"-all in his head, of course, lol.

Later that year, Nana was assigned to give a talk at Betty’s hall. Betty agreed to host hospitality, happy to support her friend. To her surprise, Nana asked her out to dinner that night!

To help Betty make new friends in her new city, she planned a staycation with a few new faces. This year felt a little more special!

After four months together, we decided to take a leap of faith and go on our first international trip to L’Aquila, Italy. Nothing says ‘let’s see where this goes’ like hopping on a plane together!

We took a boat ride in Luz, Portugal.

Since Nana always had the best date ideas, I wanted to return the favor—with something unforgettable. So I planned a surprise: a cooking class in Portugal!

On July 25th, 2025, Nana asked me to marry him. To my total surprise, he’d also flown in my sisters and friends to San Diego to help celebrate the moment—it was perfect.
